היות והתעוררו לאחרונה חלוקי דעות בבית הכנסת שלנו בדבר ברכת כהנים, אם הש"צ יתחיל במלת "יברכך" או שהכהנים יתחילו כפי שהיה מנהגם בחו"ל.

והיות ואחרי העיון בש"ע אורח חיים סי' קכח, ובספרי אחרונים (בן איש חי, ישכיל עבדי, כף החיים ועוד) לא יכולנו להגיע לידי אחוד דעות, כי כל אחד עומד על דעתו ללא ויתור.

קיבלתי מכתבך מיום כ"ב בתשרי ש"ז בענין מילת "יברכך", אם הש"ץ יתחיל בה או הכהנים יתחילו בה.

במכתבך לא הובהר מה היה המנהג עד עתה בבית כנסת זה שבו נתעורר הויכוח. אם בבית הכנסת הזה שמדובר בו, היה המנהג שהש"ץ מקריא גם אם מילת "יברכך", ועתה נתעורר חלק מהקהל ורוצה לשנות המנהג שהכהנים יתחילו, אין זה נכון, וראוי להשאיר את המנהג כפי שהיה; ואם המנהג של בית הכנסת היה שהכהנים מתחילים במילת "יברכך" ונתעוררו יחידים לשנות את המנהג ומבקשים שהש"ץ יקריא גם מילה זו, השינוי צריך לקבל הסכמת רוב הקהל, כולל הש"ץ והכוהנים¹²¹.

אני תקוה ותפילה שיתמיד השלום בין מתפללי בית הכנסת וייחלצו לקבוע עיתים לתורה אשר היא אגוני מגינא ואצולי מצילא בעידנא דעסקין בה ובעידנא דלא עסקין בה¹²².
