כותב שורות אלו בן לעדה יוצאת בבל. בנם של הורים דתיים ושומרי מצוות שהתחנך כמו רבים כמוהו בבית ספר ממשלתי בעירק ובקר בבתי כנסת רק ביום הכפורים ובקור זה גם לא כלל תפילה.

ימים באו ובעזרת האל נשאתי לי אשה שומרת מצוות ולראשונה נתקל אני בכל "בעיות" הדת והתפילה.

גם ידידי הסובבים אותי אין בכוחם ליעץ הרבה ואפילו כשבקשתי חבר בעבודה לקנות לי את ספרי התורה המתאימים לתפילה, [לא] אבה לעשות זאת בטענו שיש מיני ספרים בנוסחים שונים ולא ידע לבחור לי את המתאים.
