דַּבֵּ֨ר אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֜ן וְאֶל־בָּנָ֗יו וְיִנָּֽזְרוּ֙ מִקׇּדְשֵׁ֣י בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְלֹ֥א יְחַלְּל֖וּ אֶת־שֵׁ֣ם קׇדְשִׁ֑י אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵ֧ם מַקְדִּשִׁ֛ים לִ֖י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

Speak to Aharon and to his sons and let them keep away from the holy offerings of Bnei Yisroel and they shall not profane My holy name which they sanctify for Me, I am Adonoy.

Speak to Aharon and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Yisra᾽el which they hallow to me, and they profane not my holy name, I am the Lord.

###### Leviticus 22:3

אֱמֹ֣ר אֲלֵהֶ֗ם לְדֹרֹ֨תֵיכֶ֜ם כׇּל־אִ֣ישׁ**׀** אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרַ֣ב מִכׇּל־זַרְעֲכֶ֗ם אֶל־הַקֳּדָשִׁים֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַקְדִּ֤ישׁוּ בְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לַֽיהֹוָ֔ה וְטֻמְאָת֖וֹ עָלָ֑יו וְנִכְרְתָ֞ה הַנֶּ֧פֶשׁ הַהִ֛וא מִלְּפָנַ֖י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

Say to them; throughout your generations; any person of your offspring who will draw near to the holy things which Bnei Yisroel will sanctify to Adonoy [while] his impurity is on him that soul shall be cut off from My Presence, I am Adonoy.

Say to them, Whoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that approaches the holy things, which the children of Yisra᾽el hallow to the Lord, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the Lord.

Say to them: Throughout your generations, every man who draws near of all of your seed to [eat] the holy things that the children of Israel make holy unto the L-rd, with his uncleanliness upon him, that soul will be cut off from before Me; I am the L-rd.


###### Leviticus 22:4

אִ֣ישׁ אִ֞ישׁ מִזֶּ֣רַע אַהֲרֹ֗ן וְה֤וּא צָר֙וּעַ֙ א֣וֹ זָ֔ב בַּקֳּדָשִׁים֙ לֹ֣א יֹאכַ֔ל עַ֖ד אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִטְהָ֑ר וְהַנֹּגֵ֙עַ֙ בְּכׇל־טְמֵא־נֶ֔פֶשׁ א֣וֹ אִ֔ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־תֵּצֵ֥א מִמֶּ֖נּוּ שִׁכְבַת־זָֽרַע׃

Any man of Aharons offspring; who has *tzoraas* or an impure flow, may not eat of the sacred things until he has purified himself. [The same is true] of anyone who touches anything defiled by the dead, or anyone who has had a seminal emission,

What man soever of the seed of Aharon that is stricken with żara῾at, or has a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoever touches anything that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose semen goes from him;

A man of the seed of Aaron, if he is a leper or a zav, of the holy things he shall not eat until he is clean. And one who touches anyone who is unclean through the dead; or a man from whom semen issues,


###### Leviticus 22:5

אוֹ־אִישׁ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִגַּ֔ע בְּכׇל־שֶׁ֖רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִטְמָא־ל֑וֹ א֤וֹ בְאָדָם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִטְמָא־ל֔וֹ לְכֹ֖ל טֻמְאָתֽוֹ׃

or anyone who touches any creeping creature that causes impurity to him, or any person which causes impurity to him, [with] whatever impurity he has.

or whoever touches any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatever uncleanness he has;

###### Leviticus 22:6

נֶ֚פֶשׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּגַּע־בּ֔וֹ וְטָמְאָ֖ה עַד־הָעָ֑רֶב וְלֹ֤א יֹאכַל֙ מִן־הַקֳּדָשִׁ֔ים כִּ֛י אִם־רָחַ֥ץ בְּשָׂר֖וֹ בַּמָּֽיִם׃

Anyone touching [that person] will be impure until the evening. He shall not eat of the holy things unless he has washed his body in water.

the person who has touched any such shall be unclean until evening, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he bathe his flesh with water.

The soul who touches it [one of the above] shall be unclean until the evening; and he shall not eat of the holy things until he bathes his flesh in water.


###### Leviticus 22:7

וּבָ֥א הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ וְטָהֵ֑ר וְאַחַר֙ יֹאכַ֣ל מִן־הַקֳּדָשִׁ֔ים כִּ֥י לַחְמ֖וֹ הֽוּא׃

When the sun sets, he is pure, and afterwards, he may eat of the holy things, for it is his bread.

And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterwards eat of the holy things; because it is his food.

And when the sun sets he shall be clean, and then he may eat of the holy things [terumah], for it is his bread.


###### Leviticus 22:8

נְבֵלָ֧ה וּטְרֵפָ֛ה לֹ֥א יֹאכַ֖ל לְטׇמְאָה־בָ֑הּ אֲנִ֖י יְהֹוָֽה׃

An animal which has died on its own, or an animal that was fatally maimed, he must not eat to defile himself with it, I am Adonoy.

That which dies of itself, or is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself with it: I am the Lord.

Neveilah or treifah he shall not eat [see 17:15] to defile himself therewith [(If he does eat it, he is forbidden to eat kodshim)]; I am the L-rd.


###### Leviticus 22:9

וְשָׁמְר֣וּ אֶת־מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֗י וְלֹֽא־יִשְׂא֤וּ עָלָיו֙ חֵ֔טְא וּמֵ֥תוּ ב֖וֹ כִּ֣י יְחַלְּלֻ֑הוּ אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה מְקַדְּשָֽׁם׃

They shall keep my charge lest they bear [the burden] of sin and die because of it for having profaned [it]. I am Adonoy Who makes them holy.

They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the Lord do sanctify them.

And they shall keep My charge [not to eat terumah in a state of bodily uncleanliness], that they not bear sin because of it. And they will die for it [(death by the hands of Heaven)] if they profane it; I am the L-rd who sanctifies them.


###### Leviticus 22:10

וְכׇל־זָ֖ר לֹא־יֹ֣אכַל קֹ֑דֶשׁ תּוֹשַׁ֥ב כֹּהֵ֛ן וְשָׂכִ֖יר לֹא־יֹ֥אכַל קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

**Metsudah Chumash, Metsudah Publications, 2009:**
No stranger (non-*kohein*) may eat holy things. One indentured to a *kohein* and one hired [by a *kohein*] may not eat sacred-offerings.

No stranger shall eat of the holy thing: a tenant of a priest, or a hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.

And every non-priest (zar) shall not eat the holy thing [terumah]. A Cohein's toshav [a servant whose ear is bored, who serves until the Jubilee year] and (his) sachir [a hired servant, who leaves after six years] shall not eat the holy thing, [the Cohein not owning his body].


###### Leviticus 22:11

וְכֹהֵ֗ן כִּֽי־יִקְנֶ֥ה נֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ קִנְיַ֣ן כַּסְפּ֔וֹ ה֖וּא יֹ֣אכַל בּ֑וֹ וִילִ֣יד בֵּית֔וֹ הֵ֖ם יֹאכְל֥וּ בְלַחְמֽוֹ׃

**Metsudah Chumash, Metsudah Publications, 2009:**
If a *kohein* shall purchase a person [as a slave, that person is] his monetary possession. He may eat of it, and the [slave] born in his house, they may eat of his bread.

But if a priest buy any person with money, he may eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his bread.

And a Cohein, if he acquire a soul [a Canaanite bondsman, whose body he owns], the acquisition of his money [(the Cohein's wife is hereby included)], he may eat of it, and one that is born in his house [(the children of the bondswomen)] — they may eat of his bread.


###### Leviticus 22:12

וּבַ֨ת־כֹּהֵ֔ן כִּ֥י תִהְיֶ֖ה לְאִ֣ישׁ זָ֑ר הִ֕וא בִּתְרוּמַ֥ת הַקֳּדָשִׁ֖ים לֹ֥א תֹאכֵֽל׃

When a koheins daughter marries a non-*kohein*, the sacred *terumah* portions may not be eaten by her.

And if a priest’s daughter be married to a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things.

And the daughter of a Cohein, if she be wed to a man who is a zar [i.e., a Levite or an Israelite], she, of the terumah of the holy things shall not eat.


###### Leviticus 22:13

וּבַת־כֹּהֵן֩ כִּ֨י תִהְיֶ֜ה אַלְמָנָ֣ה וּגְרוּשָׁ֗ה וְזֶ֘רַע֮ אֵ֣ין לָהּ֒ וְשָׁבָ֞ה אֶל־בֵּ֤ית אָבִ֙יהָ֙ כִּנְעוּרֶ֔יהָ מִלֶּ֥חֶם אָבִ֖יהָ תֹּאכֵ֑ל וְכׇל־זָ֖ר לֹא־יֹ֥אכַל בּֽוֹ׃

If a koheins daughter is either widowed or divorced, and she has no children, and she returns to her fathers home as in her youth, she may eat of her fathers bread. No non-*kohein* may eat of it.

But if a priest’s daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and has returned to her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s bread: but no stranger shall eat of it.

And the daughter of a Cohein, if she be widowed or divorced [from the zar], and she have no seed [from him], then she may return to the house of her father as in her maidenhood (and) from the bread of her father may she eat. And no zar may eat of it, [but a Cohein who is an onein (a mourner) may].


###### Leviticus 22:14

וְאִ֕ישׁ כִּֽי־יֹאכַ֥ל קֹ֖דֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָ֑ה וְיָסַ֤ף חֲמִֽשִׁיתוֹ֙ עָלָ֔יו וְנָתַ֥ן לַכֹּהֵ֖ן אֶת־הַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃

If a man inadvertently eats of sacred-offering, he shall add a fifth, to it[s worth] and give to the *kohein* the holy thing.

And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall add the fifth part thereof to it, and shall give the holy thing to the priest.

And a man, if he eat the holy thing [terumah] unwittingly, then he shall add its fifth part upon it and give the Cohein the holy thing [i.e., what can become holy. He does not give him money, but produce of chullin (non-terumah), which becomes terumah].


###### Leviticus 22:15

וְלֹ֣א יְחַלְּל֔וּ אֶת־קׇדְשֵׁ֖י בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־יָרִ֖ימוּ לַיהֹוָֽה׃

They shall not profane the holy things of Bnei Yisroel that which they designated for Adonoy.

###### Leviticus 22:16

וְהִשִּׂ֤יאוּ אוֹתָם֙ עֲוֺ֣ן אַשְׁמָ֔ה בְּאׇכְלָ֖ם אֶת־קׇדְשֵׁיהֶ֑ם כִּ֛י אֲנִ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה מְקַדְּשָֽׁם׃{פ}

They burden them[selves] with the sin of their guilt when they eat their holy things, for I am Adonoy, Who makes them holy.

and so cause them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the Lord do sanctify them.

And they (the Cohanim) will bear upon themselves the sin of guilt when they (the zarim) eat their holy things [things set aside to be terumah]; for I am the L-rd who sanctifies them.

לִֽרְצֹנְכֶ֑ם תָּמִ֣ים זָכָ֔ר בַּבָּקָ֕ר בַּכְּשָׂבִ֖ים וּבָֽעִזִּֽים׃

To gain acceptance [it must be] an unblemished male of cattle, sheep or goats.

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
you shall offer, that you may be accepted, a male without blemish, of the oxen, of the sheep, or of the goats.

So that you find favor with it [(in My eyes) shall you bring it. And with what will you find favor?] A male without blemish in the cattle, in the sheep, and in the goats [(but a bird burnt-offering need not be male and unblemished. It becomes pasul only if it lacks a limb.)]


###### Leviticus 22:20

כֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁר־בּ֥וֹ מ֖וּם לֹ֣א תַקְרִ֑יבוּ כִּי־לֹ֥א לְרָצ֖וֹן יִהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶֽם׃

Anything that has a blemish on it you shall not bring, for it will not be accepted favorably for you.

But whatever has a blemish, that shall you not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you.

Whatever has a blemish in it you shall not present, for it will not be acceptable for you.


###### Leviticus 22:21

וְאִ֗ישׁ כִּֽי־יַקְרִ֤יב זֶֽבַח־שְׁלָמִים֙ לַיהֹוָ֔ה לְפַלֵּא־נֶ֙דֶר֙ א֣וֹ לִנְדָבָ֔ה בַּבָּקָ֖ר א֣וֹ בַצֹּ֑אן תָּמִ֤ים יִֽהְיֶה֙ לְרָצ֔וֹן כׇּל־מ֖וּם לֹ֥א יִהְיֶה־בּֽוֹ׃

If a man will bring a peace-offering to Adonoy, to fulfill an articulated vow or free-will-offering of cattle or of sheep, it shall be unblemished, that it be favorably accepted. No blemish shall be in it.

And whoever offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in oxen or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; no blemish shall be in it.

And if a man present a sacrifice of peace-offerings to the L-rd for an expressed vow or as a gift-offering, of the cattle or of the flock, perfect shall it be for acceptance; no blemish shall be in it.


###### Leviticus 22:22

עַוֶּ֩רֶת֩ א֨וֹ שָׁב֜וּר אוֹ־חָר֣וּץ אֽוֹ־יַבֶּ֗לֶת א֤וֹ גָרָב֙ א֣וֹ יַלֶּ֔פֶת לֹא־תַקְרִ֥יבוּ אֵ֖לֶּה לַיהֹוָ֑ה וְאִשֶּׁ֗ה לֹא־תִתְּנ֥וּ מֵהֶ֛ם עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ לַיהֹוָֽה׃

A blind, broken-limbed, cracked or wart[ed animal]; or [an animal] with scurf or scabs you shall not bring these to Adonoy; and as a fire-offering you shall not place of them on the altar of Adonoy.

Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a growth, or scurvy, or scabbed, you shall not offer these to the Lord, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar to the Lord.

[It shall not be] blind or broken or charutz [having an eyelid or a lip that was split or injured], or having a wart or [having] garav or yalefeth [types of skin conditions]. You shall not present these to the L-rd. [("You shall not present") — three times (here, 24, 25): to exhort against their being dedicated, slaughtered, and their blood being sprinkled)] And a fire-offering you shall not make of them on the altar to the L-rd [(an exhortation against their being smoked)].

An ox or lamb with one limb larger [or smaller] than the other or with uncleft hooves, you shall make (offer) it as a free-will-offering [to the temple treasury] [but] for [the fulfillment of] a vow it will not be favorably accepted.
