**JOURNEYING AND TRAVEL**
In the periods when the people ignore attempts to criticize them and offer them spiritual guidance, the end result is exile, expulsion from the lands they are living in, and bitter wandering (*Likutey Moharan* I, 22:1).

Before going on a journey, one should give money to charity. Then nothing will delay him or trouble him on the way (31:4).

ג. כָּל הַנְּסִיעוֹת וְהַטִּלְטוּלִים שֶׁל אָדָם הֵם בִּשְׁבִיל קִלְקוּל הָאֱמוּנָה שֶׁהוּא בְּחִינַת עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה. וְלִפְעָמִים מְתַקֵּן עַל־יְדֵי הַטִּלְטוּל פְּגַם הָאֱמוּנָה, וַאֲזַי מְתַקֵּן הַחֲרוֹן אַף מִן הָעוֹלָם וְנִמְשָׁךְ רַחֲמָנוּת בָּעוֹלָם: (לק"א סי' מ' ולק"ת סי' ס"ב)

**Advice. Breslov Research Inst., 2015:**
All the traveling a person has to do is because of flaws in his faith in God. Such flaws are actually a form of idolatry. At times traveling can be a *tikkun* for these flaws, and this removes the force of anger from the world and draws down the influence of love (40).

ה. עַל־יְדֵי שֶׁמַּסְמִיכִין רַבִּי שֶׁאֵינוֹ הָגוּן, עַל־יְדֵי זֶה מְגָרְשִׁין יִשְׂרָאֵל מִמְּקוֹם הַיִּשּׁוּב שֶׁנִּתְיַשְּׁבוּ שָׁם מִכְּבָר, אֶל מְקוֹמוֹת שֶׁלֹּא הָיוּ שָׁם יִשְׂרָאֵל מֵעוֹלָם, שֶׁזֶּהוּ בְּחִינַת גֵּרוּשׁ מֵאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל. כִּי בְּמָקוֹם שֶׁיָּשְׁבוּ שָׁם יִשְׂרָאֵל מִכְּבָר הוּא בְּחִינַת אֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל: (לק"א סי' ס"א אות ב')

**Advice. Breslov Research Inst., 2015:**
By conferring authority on an unworthy rabbi, they exile the Jews from a settled area, from a place they settled long ago, to places they have never lived there, which is the aspect exile. As places they have settled in are the aspect of the Land of Israel (61:2).

ו. אֲפִלּוּ מִי שֶׁהוּא נָע וָנָד וּבָא לִפְעָמִים לִמְקוֹמוֹת שֶׁרְחוֹקִים מְאֹד מֵעֲבוֹדַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ, כְּגוֹן בְּבֵית רְשָׁעִים, וַאֲפִלּוּ בְּבֵית עַכּוּ"ם וְכַיּוֹצֵא, אַף עַל פִּי כֵן יֵשׁ כֹּחַ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל לְהַעֲלוֹת וּלְהָרִים כָּל אֵלּוּ הַמְּקוֹמוֹת לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ. עַל־כֵּן עָלָיו לַעֲשׂוֹת אֶת שֶׁלּוֹ לְהַמְשִׁיךְ אֶת עַצְמוֹ לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּכָל מַה שֶּׁיּוּכַל בְּכָל מָקוֹם שֶׁהוּא: (לק"ת סי' ע"ו)

**Advice. Breslov Research Inst., 2015:**
A person may spend his life as a “fugitive and a wanderer” (Genesis 4:14) and at times he may come to places which are very far from God — the homes of the wicked, or even the homes of heathens. Even so a Jew has the power to elevate all these places to God. He should simply do his part and bring himself as close as he can to God regardless of where he may be (II, 76).

ז. כְּשֶׁיֵּשׁ לְהָאָדָם לֵב, אֵין שׁוּם מָקוֹם שֶׁיִּמְנָעֵהוּ מֵעֲבוֹדָתוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ. וְאֵין לוֹ שׁוּם הִתְנַצְּלוּת לוֹמַר, שֶׁבְּמָקוֹם פְּלוֹנִי אִי אֶפְשָׁר לוֹ לַעֲסֹק בַּעֲבוֹדַת ה'. כִּי כְּשֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ לֵב, כָּל הַמְּקוֹמוֹת שֶׁל כָּל הָעוֹלָם הֵם שֶׁלּוֹ: (לק"ת סי' נ"ו)

**Advice. Breslov Research Inst., 2015:**
When a person has heart there is nowhere that presents an insufferable barrier against his serving God. It is no excuse to say that in a certain place the barriers are so great that it is impossible to serve God. When a person *has* a heart, all the places in the entire world are his (56).

ח. בַּדֶּרֶךְ צְרִיכִין לִזָּהֵר בִּטְבִילַת מִקְוֶה, כִּי מִקְוֶה מְסֻגָּל לְהִנָּצֵל מֵרוֹצְחִים: (חיי מוהר"ן סי' תע"ו)

**Advice. Breslov Research Inst., 2015:**
Whenever you are on a journey, make sure that you go to the *mikveh*. The *mikveh* has the power to save us from murder (*Chayey Moharan, Avodat Hashem* 30).
