**תם מה הוא אומר.** התם מחמת שא"י להפריש בין העדות והחוקים והמשפטים תופס השאלה בכללות לומר (מה זאת) ולזה ציוותה רחמנא לומר לו (בחוזק יד וגו') לומר לו שהיציאה היה ג"כ טובה לנו מחמת שהיה בחוזק יד. וכמו שפירשתי בפיסקא דעבדים היינו וכיון שטובתינו הוא מחוייבים אנחנו להודות ולעשות עדות על טובתינו.

**What does the simple child say?** The simple child’s question is similar to the opening passage in the Haggadah, “We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt…” It is a very general question, “What is this?” Unable to distinguish the subtle differences in Jewish law he asks in a more general way. We therefore give him the more general answer that the Torah presents “It is with a mighty hand that the Lord brought us out of Egypt…”
