## Magen Avraham Siman 428

###### Magen Avraham 428:1
[Magen Avraham 428:1](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:1)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
The general principle: one must always ensure that Yom Kippur does not fall on Sunday or Friday, so that there won't be two holy days adjacent to each other, and also that Hoshanah Rabbah should not fall on Shabbat, which would cause the willow ritual to be postponed. "And on the day that Shavuot falls, Chanukah will be...": This should be explained as follows: on the day that Shavuot falls, the following Chanukah will be either regular or deficient in days. But when the months are full, it will fall on the day after Shavuot. For example, if Shavuot is on Sunday, Chanukah will be on Monday.

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"Tammuz AGHO": This should read "Cheshvan BDHZ."

###### Magen Avraham 428:3
[Magen Avraham 428:3](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:3)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"MBHC is a leap year": Meaning when Rosh Hashanah falls on Thursday and the year is a leap year, then Parashat Noah is read on Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan and one additional Shabbat is inserted.

###### Magen Avraham 428:4
[Magen Avraham 428:4](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:4)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"Bamidbar Sinai before Shavuot": Because Shavuot is Rosh Hashanah for trees, therefore we read one section after the rebukes so that the year and its curses should conclude. For this reason we read Atem Nitzavim before Rosh Hashanah.

###### Magen Avraham 428:5
[Magen Avraham 428:5](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:5)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"HaMelech": This refers to Rosh Hashanah when we say "HaMelech HaMishpat." "Pat VaYelech": This means dividing into pieces—that Nitzavim and VaYelech are split into two readings.

###### Magen Avraham 428:6
[Magen Avraham 428:6](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:6)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"Paqdo and Pascho": Paqdo is imperative form, meaning we are commanded to read close to Pesach. Sagro—the language of a quarantined leper. Meno—Bamidbar Sinai where Israel was counted. Tzomo—Tisha B'Av. Tzalo—VaEtchanan. Qomo—Atem Nitzavim. When Pesach falls on Shabbat, the Jews in Israel read Shemini on the following Shabbat; some separate Tazria and Metzora, some separate Behar and Bechukotai, and in a leap year they separate Matot and Masei.

###### Magen Avraham 428:7
[Magen Avraham 428:7](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:7)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"They divide": In some places they follow Rashi's divisions. I found written that even when there are obligations, the parasha should not be divided further.

###### Magen Avraham 428:8
[Magen Avraham 428:8](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:8)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"In the verses before them": Three verses before (according to Beit Yosef and Tosafot). See section 138. In Siman 90 section 56 he struggled to justify our custom of beginning with the curses in Torat Kohanim without starting from the verse before them. Nevertheless, it seems one should begin three verses before. The custom spread because they call the Rav (head of the Beit Din) for the third aliyah every Shabbat, requiring them to read with him up to the rebuke, therefore they begin with the rebuke. But it's preferable that the Rav waive his honor and accept the fourth aliyah, or they should begin retroactively from three verses before. It's written that in some places they customarily call up the scholar for the curses, the Song of the Sea, and the Ten Commandments. Before the rebuke he recites "Musar Hashem beni al tim'as..." and before the Commandments "Rekhev Elokim ribotayim." Also, they call the Levi for the Golden Calf portion and read it quietly. Maharil objected to one who went up for the rebuke—specifically, only the sexton hired for this has no issue. It's written that the forty-two journeys in Parashat Masei should not be interrupted, corresponding to the forty-two letter Name.

###### Magen Avraham 428:9
[Magen Avraham 428:9](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:9)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"17th of Tammuz": If one erred and read the haftarah on the first Shabbat from Yoma, the following Shabbat he should read "Divrei Yirmiyahu" and also "Shim'u" since they are adjacent. See section 425. What is written in chumashim "Vayivrach" for Parashat Vayishlach is an error—it belongs to Parashat Vayetzei.

###### Magen Avraham 428:10
[Magen Avraham 428:10](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Magen%20Avraham/r/428:10)

**Hadar Egalitarianism Tshuva:**
"Are you not like the children of Kushites": This is also written in Beit Chadash, Magen Avraham, and Agudah, unlike Levush who wrote to read "HaTishpot" even when doubled, since Beit Chadash testified that in all congregations they follow what the Shulchan Aruch wrote.
