מקום שהתחיל בשם "**נפש**" – יבוא הפעל או שני פעלים (הבאים רצופים אחריו) בלשון נקבה. והפעלים הבאים אחר כך דרך מסובב או תולדות התנאי יבואו בלשון זכר. אם לא בפעל שרגיל לדבר עליהם בשם נפש [כגון פעל **אכילה. חטא. טומאה. כרת**] שיבואו גם אחר כך בלשון נקבה. (צו ס' קלא)

In a place that begins with the noun **נפש** (soul) – the verb or two verbs (that come consecutively after it) must come in feminine. And verbs that come after **נפש** as a consequence or in the conclusion of a conditional statement will come in masculine, unless it is a verb that is typically used with the noun **נפש** (for instance, the verb **אכילה** (eating), **חטא** (sin), **טומאה** (uncleanness), **כרת** (cut off)); then they will also come afterwards in feminine.
