וכשיזכיר שם **פר פרה, עגל עגלה** וכדומה שסימן המין מחובר בו – אין צורך לבאר שיהיה זכר או נקבה (רק אם מזכיר שם **בקר, צאן** שאין בו סימן במין). ואם באר שיהיה זכר או נקבה יש בו דרוש. (ויקרא ס' כב, וסימן עא, וסימן קנט, וסימן קעז, וסימן רסז, וסימן שכב)

And whenever the nouns**פר** (bull) **פרה** (cow), **עגל** (male calf) **עגלה** (female calf), etc., are mentioned, where the gender is indicated by whether there is a suffix ה - it is unnecessary to clarify that it will be male or female (only if it mentions the noun **בקר** (cattle) or **צאן** (sheep), where the gender is not indicated). And if it does clarify that it will be male or female, there will be a homiletical interpretation.
