ויש הבדל בין תואר **משיח** ובין תואר **נשיא**. שתואר 'נשיא' הוא שם שמצטרף, ולא יקרא בו כאשר עבר מנשיאותו. מה שאין כך בתואר 'משיח' יקרא אף אחר שעבר. (ויקרא ס' רו)

And there is a difference between the adjective **משיח** (annointed) and the adjective **נשיא** (leader): The adjective נשיא is a title, and one is not called this when his leadership is over. This is not so with the adjective משיח, as one is called this even after it has expired.
