## Malbim Ayelet HaShachar Klal 213

###### Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 213:1
[Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 213:1](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Malbim%20Ayelet%20HaShachar/r/213:1)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
When dividing something into categories, it is necessary that the division be complete and all-inclusive. For example, if it is desired to distinguish between types of men according to their skin color, it will be said, *מין האדם לפי צבעו. יש לבנים ביותר, לבנים אדמדמים, אדום בוהק, שחורים כגחל, שקערורים אדמדמים, שקערורים ירקרוקים, וכדומה* (Type of man according to his skin color - there are extremely white, reddish white, shiny red, coal black, reddish dim, greenish dim, etc.) Indeed, one could do this using only extreme skin types; for example, *יש אנשים שחורים ואנשים לבנים* (there are black people and white people), and the remainder of types will fall into one of these two main categories.

###### Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 213:2
[Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 213:2](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Malbim%20Ayelet%20HaShachar/r/213:2)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
And moreover, it is customary for the Torah to talk in terms of division into categories. For example, it divides (for the topic of absorption with respect to a sin offering) between an earthenware vessel and a brazen vessel, and the remainder of vessels fall into one of these two categories⁵⁰¹. And when dividing between sacred foods that are eaten for one day and those that are eaten for two days, it uses תודה ושלמים (thanksgiving for one day and peace offerings for two days)⁵⁰². And the remainder of types fall into one of these two categories. And moreover, a daily offering. And a recognized sign that the intention of the Torah is to make an all-inclusive division is when it uses the name of a category with the name of a type – for instance, כלי חרס, כלי נחושת, כלי עץ, זבח תודה, זבח שלמים (an earthenware vessel, a brazen vessel, a wooden vessel, a thanksgiving offering, a peace offering).
