שם **איש** בא לחבר התואר אל המתואר ["איש צדיק", "איש תם"] ולייחס הקנין אל הקונה ["עבד איש", "עולת איש"]. לא כן שם **אדם**. ובמקום שאמר "אדם בליעל" יש בו גדר מיוחד (ויקרא ס' י)

The noun **איש** (man) comes to link the modifier to the word that it modifies (איש צדיק - righteous man, איש תם – whole-hearted man) and to link the property to the buyer ( עבד איש- servant of a man, עולת איש - burnt offering of a man). This is not so with the noun **אדם**. And in the place where it says אדם בליעל (a base person)⁵⁷⁶, it is a special exception.

*According to the Midrash of Proverbs, an אדם בליעל is a person who speaks loshon hora (evil speech)⁵⁷⁷.*
