###### Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 254:1
[Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 254:1](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Malbim%20Ayelet%20HaShachar/r/254:1)

שם **איש** בא לציין נושא סתמי – "וישאלו איש לרעהו" שפירושו אחד לרעהו. וכן בא על הכללות – "איש מבית ישראל". לא כן שם **אדם**. ומה שכתוב "אדם מכם" יש בו דרוש. (ויקרא ס' י)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
The noun **איש** (man) comes to indicate an impersonal subject - וישאלו איש לרעהו (and they asked each other of their welfare)⁵⁷⁸ - it is interpreted that they asked *אחד לרעהו* *(each other)*. And moreover, it applies to laws - איש מבית ישראל (What man soever there be of the house of Israel)⁵⁷⁹. This is not so with the noun **אדם**. And when it is written אדם מכם (When any man of you brings)⁵⁸⁰, there is a homiletical interpretation.

*Leviticus 1:2 says,*דבר אל בני ישראל ואמרת אלהם אדם כי יקריב מכם קרבן ליהוה מן הבהמה מן הבקר ומן הצאן תקריבו את קרבנכם*(Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: When any man of you brings an offering to the LORD, you shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd or of the flock), using the wordאדם to for “man” as an impersonal subject instead of the word*איש*. The homiletical interpretation is that the word אדם is used in order to indicate that proselytes are also included in the verse⁵⁸¹.*
