ומלת "או **הוֹדַע** אליו חטאתו" מורכב מג' בנינים.

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
And the word **הוֹדַע** (known) in או **הוֹדַע** אליו חטאתו (if his sin, which he has sinned, be known to him)⁶⁰ is composed of three verb conjugations:

כי חולם הה"א מורה שהוא מן ההפעיל. כמו **הוֹרִיד הוֹשִיב**

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
When there is a חולם vowel **וֹ** after the ה, it indicates that it is in the active voice causative conjugation, like**הוֹרִיד** (to lower) and **הוֹשִיב** (to seat).

ופתח הד' מורה שהוא מן ההָפְעַל. כמו **הוּרַד הוּשַב**

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
And the פתח vowel under the ד indicates that it is in the passive voice causative conjugation, like **הוּרַד** (to be lowered) and **הוּשַב** (to be seated).

ומה שבא אחריו שימוש מלת **"אל"** – שלא בא רק בהתפעל כמו "**בהתודע** יוסף אל אחיו" (אבל אחר פעל 'ידע' בהפעיל והָפְעל בא תמיד שימוש הלמ"ד) – מורה שיש בה הוראת התפעל שהיא המורכב מן הִפעיל והָפעל.

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
And when the preposition **אל** comes afterwards – it only comes in reflexive conjugation like **בהתודע** יוסף אל אחיו (Joseph made himself known to his brethren)⁶¹ (but after the verb ידעin causative conjugation form, active or passive, it always uses the prefix **ל**) – it indicates that it is in reflexive conjugation, which is composed of active and passive voice causative conjugation.

וחז"ל דרשו במילה זו הזרה כל ההוראות שיש בו. פעולת פועל־מצוין של הפעיל, ופועל־בלתי־מצוין של הָפְעַל, והפעולה בעצמו של התפעל. (ויקרא רסג)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
And the sages of blessed memory interpret in this word **הוֹדַע** the foreignness of all of the meanings that are within it. Active voice causative conjugation is indicative of the action of the subject, passive voice causative conjugation is indicative of no subject, and reflexive conjugation is indicative of the action on itself.
