שם "**מזבח**" כולל גוף המזבח וגגו וקירותיו ויסודו. וגם הכבש בכלל 'מזבח' בדרך ההרחבה. אבל כשפורט את חלקיו כמו "קיר המזבח" וכדומה – אין הכבש בכלל מזבח. (ויקרא ס' פג, ויקרא ס' קמב)

The noun **מזבח** (altar) includes the body of the altar, its roof, its walls, and its foundation. And also the ramp is included in **מזבח** in its broad meaning. But when it describes its parts like the קיר המזבח (wall of the altar), etc., the ramp is not included in the word **מזבח**.

אולם כשאמר "**אל המזבח**" (ולא "**על המזבח**") – גם הכבש בכלל. וכן מורה אף שקרב אליו ואינו על גביו. (ויקרא ס' קמב, ויקרא ס' רעד)
