כשאמר "**יום ביום**" פירושו – לפי ענין היום, היינו מעניינא דיומא, והוא קרוב עם "דבר יום ביומו". רק כשאמר "**ביומו**" פירושו דוקא באותו יום ולא ידחה ליום אחר. וכן "**שבת בשבתו**". (צו סימן טז)

Whenever it says **יום ביום**, it means according to the theme of the day, and it is close with דבר יום ביומו (the duty of every day required)⁶⁰⁰. Only when it says**ביומו** (on its day) does it mean precisely on that same day and that it does not get postponed for another day. And the same with **שבת בשבתו** (every Sabbath)⁶⁰¹.
