יש הבדל לפי הפשט בין "**וכפר עליו על חטאתו**" ובין "**וכפר עליו מחטאתו**". כשאומר "על חטאתו" – מציין שמסלק החטא עצמו, וכשאומר "וכפר מחטאתו" – מציין שמסלק יחוס החטא מן החוטא.

There is a difference between the meaning of **וכפר עליו על חטאתו** and **וכפר עליו מחטאתו** (make atonement for him as concerning his sin): When it says על חטאתו - it indicates that He removes the sin itself, while when it says וכפר מחטאתו – it indicates that He removes the attribution of the sin from the sinner.
