[Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 363:1](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Malbim%20Ayelet%20HaShachar/r/363:1)

**[חטא עון פשע]** פעל **חטא** נאמר על הנטיה מדרך הראוי וכולל בין שוגג בין המזיד, כל שלא היה בסבת כפירה ומינות. ועל כן הוצרך לומר "כי תחטא בשגגה". (ויקרא ס' קצב, וסימן שמח)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
**חטא עון פשע** (sin): The verb **חטא** is spoken with respect to the tendency from the way that is proper and it includes unintentional and intentional sins, anything that was not done due to atheism or heresy. And thus, it is necessary to say כי תחטא בשגגה (If any one shall sin through error)⁶⁴³, in order to indicate that the sin is unintentional.

[Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 363:2](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Malbim%20Ayelet%20HaShachar/r/363:2)

אבל אם באו השמות בדיוק, וכל שכן כשנרדפים יחד, יציין בשם **חטא** את השוגג, ובשם **עון** את המעוה מצד השכל שהוא המזיד, ובשם **פשע** יציין את המורד בשאט נפש. (ויקרא ס' קצב. אחרי ס' כא, וסימן נה)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
But if the three nouns come in their precise meaning, and all the more so when they are mentioned together, it indicates with the noun **חטא** that it is an unintentional sin, with the noun **עון** a distortion of the mind so that it is an intentional sin, and with the noun **פשע** that he has a rebellious and abhorrent soul.

###### Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 363:3
[Malbim Ayelet HaShachar 363:3](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Malbim%20Ayelet%20HaShachar/r/363:3)

ולפי זה המעוה הוא הפך השוגג, והפשע הוא הפך האונס, והחוטא הוא הפך הספק. (אחרי סימן נה)

**Ayelet Hashachar, translated by Betzalel Avraham Feinstein, 2021:**
And according to this, **עון** is the opposite of unintentional sin, **פשע** is the opposite of unwilling sin, and **חטא** is the opposite of uncertainty that one sins.
