אבל פעל **'שרף'** מציין שריפת הדבר עצמו ובא גם על דברים שאין האור נאחז בהם עצמם רק נשרפים על ידי עצים ודומיהם.

ויש הבדל פרטי בין **'שרף'** ובין **'אכל'**. שפעל 'אכל' מציין פעולת האש עצמו שאוכל ומכלה את הגשם, ופעל 'שרף' מציין פעולת האדם המסבב שריפת העצים. (אחרי סימן ע)
