ויש הבדל בין **'כחש'** שבא אחריו שימוש הב' ובין אם בא אחריו שימוש הלמ"ד.

And there is a difference between **כחש** (lie/falsehood) when it comes with the prefix ב afterwards and when it comes with the prefix ל afterwards:

**המחכש בחברו** מגיד לחברו בפניו דבר שחברו טוען נגדו ואומר בהפך

**המחכש בחברו** tells to his friend in his face a matter which his friend claims against him, and he says the opposite.

**והמכחש לחברו** אומר דבר שקר שאין חברו מכחישו.

**והמכחש לחברו** says a falsehood that his friend does not contradict.

ועל כן הכחשה נגד ה' כשבא אצל ישראל בא אחריו שימוש הב', כי אותותיו ונפלאותיו יענו כחשם בפניהם; ואצל עכו"ם בא אחריו שימוש הלמ"ד.

Thus, when an Israelite **כחש** (lies) against God, it comes with the prefix ב afterwards, because His signs and wonders answer the falsehood in their faces; and to a Gentile, it comes with the prefix ל afterwards.

**וכחש וכחד** שאין שום שימוש אחריהם מובדלים במה שהמכחד הוא בדבר שאין ידוע והמכחש הוא בדבר ידוע. (ויקרא סימן שעא)

**כחש** (falsehood) and **כחד** (concealing the whole truth) that do not have any prefix after them are distinguished in that **כחד** is with a matter that is not known, while **כחש** is with a matter that is known.
