יש הבדל בשם **דם** בין אם בא בסמיכות או בכינוי אל החי [כמו: "דם האדם", "דם נקי", "דמך על ראשך"] שאז יכוין על הדם שהנפש תלויה בו. אבל כשאומר **דם** סתם – יכוין על כל דם שיהיה ואפילו דם התמצית ודם העור והבשר. (ויקרא סימן ריד)

There are different ways to use the noun **דם** (blood): If it comes in construct state or with a pronoun referring to the living (like דם האדם, דם נקי, דמך על ראשך) then it means the blood that the life depends upon. But when it says **דם** alone, it means all blood that will be and even blood that is extracted and blood of the skin and the flesh.
