יש הבדל בין **ראשון** ובין **קדמון**. שהקדמון הוא בערך המתאחר, אף שאינו ראשון. ומצד זה הוא לפעמים בלתי־החלטי (שמיני סימן כג).

There is a difference between **ראשון** (first) and **קדמון** (ancient): **קדמון** is roughly late, not necessarily first. And from this perspective, **קדמון** is sometimes not to be taken as absolutely ancient.
