יש הבדל בין **עין** ובין **מעין**. ה'עין' הוא הנמצא בעמק קודם שיתפשטו המים חוצה, וה'מעיין' מציין נביעת המים לחוץ.

There is a difference between **עין** and **מעין** (spring) – The **עין** is found in a valley before the water gushes out, while **מעין** indicates water gushing to the outside.

ויש הבדל בין **באר** ובין **בור**. ה'בור' – מים מכונסים. וה'באר' מימיו נובעים. ובעל הלשון ישמש על הבור בלשון חציבה על שיחצבוהו בסלע או בקרקע קשה, ועל הבאר בלשון חפירה וכריה. (שמיני סימן קמד)
