בשם "פעולה" ישקיף על פרטי המלאכות אשר פעל ועשה, ובשם "שכר" ישקיף על הרווח לבד.

או כגון ששכרו לזמן וישקיף לפי מה שהתנה עמו; האומן יקבל בעד הפעולה והשכיר לפי שכר הקצוב.

ויש עוד הבדל שה'שכר' מיוחס רק אל מי ששכרוהו, לא אל מה שפעל על ידי אמצעי. וה'פעולה' תתיחס גם במה שפעל על ידי אמצעי. (קדושים סימן ל)
