ויש הבדל בין **'כוס'** ובין **'חלק'**. שכוס הוא המנה המוכן מכבר ומזה בא שם "**מכסת**" על המינוי (בחקותי סימן קב).

And there is a difference between **כוס** and **חלק** (portion/inheritance)⁷⁴⁶: **כוס** is the portion that was ready long ago, and from this comes the noun **מכסת** (worth)⁷⁴⁷.

ולשון "**נפילה בחרב**" יבוא בב' השימוש. ומה שכתב "ונפלו לחרב" פירשוהו בחרב עצמם. (בחקותי סימן ט)

And the language **נפילה בחרב** (fall by the sword) comes with the prefix ב. And when it is written ונפלו לחרב (and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword)⁷⁴⁸, it means the enemies shall fall before you by their own swords.

ופעל "**לא שמע**" שאחריו מלת "אל" מורה שאינו מאמין ומקבל דבריו. ו"**לא שמע לו**" מורה שמאמין לו ובכל זה מסרב לשמוע (בחקותי סימן יח).

And the verb **לא שמע** (not listen) in which the word אל comes afterwards teaches that he does not believe or accept his words. And **לא שמע לו** teaches that he believes him, but nevertheless refuses to listen.
