יש הבדל בין **שימוש הלמ"ד** ובין שימוש מלת "**על**". שלמ"ד מורה החלוקה, ומלת "על" מורה הצירוף. "עגלה על שני הנשיאים ושור לאחד". (ויקרא ס' שצא. תזריע סימן כג. מצורע ס' מא)

There is a difference between the prefix **ל** and the the word **על**: The ל teaches division, while the word על teaches combination. עגלה על שני הנשיאים ושור לאחד (a wagon for every two of the princes and for each one an ox)⁷⁷⁹.

*Numbers 7:3 says,*ויביאו את קרבנם לפני יהוה שש עגלת צב ושני עשר בקר עגלה על שני הנשאים ושור לאחד ויקריבו אותם לפני המשכן*(And they brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen: a wagon for every two of the princes, and for each one an ox; and they presented them before the tabernacle). The word על teaches that every two of the princes share a wagon (combination), while the prefix ל teaches that each prince gets one ox (division).*
