ומן מלת "**אין**" נגזר פעל **מאן** לדעת חז"ל. כמו שמן '**הן'** נגזר "**ותהינו** לעלות ההרה" (כנ"ל סימן ד).

And from the word **אין**, the word **מאן** (refuse) is derived, according to the sages of blessed memory, just as from the word **הן**, **ותהינו** לעלות ההרה (and deemed it a light thing to go up into the hill-country)⁷⁸⁸ is derived.

ויש הבדל בין "**מאן**" ובין "**לא אבה**". הממאן הוא בפה שאומר "אין", והבלתי אובה הוא בלב (אמור סימן צ"ו).
