**ביד חזקה זו הדבר וכו'** הנה הספקו' הנופלי' בפסקא הללו כבר נודע בס' הרי"א וס' מע"ה ולא מן הצורך להעתיקם. רק אכתוב מה שנר' בעיני. כי קשה לבעל המגיד הא כל מכה נקרא אצבע. וכדכתיב גבי כינים אצבע אלקים היא וכן לקמן בפלוגת' דר"א ורי"ג ור"ע. א"כ למה כתב יד חזקה. לכך דרשו על דבר דהקרא קראו יד דכתיב ויד ה' הויה במקנך כי יד אחד הוא ה' אצבעו' ובאשר שמכת דבר הוא מכה חמשי' מפני זה קראו יד. ובפרט שהי' על חמשה מיני בהמה וכמו שאכתוב לקמן בפסקא ועל הים מהו אומר ע"ש:

**With a mighty hand: this refers to the plague of pestilence**: Rabbis Eibishitz and Ashkenazi have already raised some questions about this passage so it is not necessary to repeat them here. I will only say what I have noticed. Each of the plagues is referred to as a finger in the Torah¹⁸⁷ and in the words of Rabbi Eliezer, Rabbi Yossi Hagalili and Rabbi Akiva. So why is the plague of pestilence referred to as “a mighty hand?” Pestilence is referred to as a hand because of the verse in scripture, “Then the hand of the Lord shall strike your livestock,”¹⁸⁸ and also because pestilence is the fifth plague – so it represents an entire hand. Also, God caused pestilence to strike five types of livestock.
