**שחין** אמרינין בבכורות דף מ"א שחין שהביא הקב"ה על המצרים הי' לח מבחוץ ויבש מבפנים דכתיב ויהי שחין פורח אבעבעות באדם ופרשי' פורח דבר שהוא למעלה ואבעבועות לשון נובע. ויבש לא מיתסי ונתרפאו מצרים ע"י נס. או די"ל דאי' ש"ר פי"א דבהמה חצי' של ישראל לא מתה אפי' בהמה ביד גוי והי' לישראל לו רק תערומות שיש לו חלק בה לא מתה ובכך יודעין שדין עם ישראל ע"ש וא"כ י"ל שקנו אח"כ חלק ישראל. ש"ר פי"א שהי' שחין ע"י פיח כבשן שזרק השמימה והי' מגיע עד כסא כבוד עכ"ל:

***Sh’chin* – Boils**: This was unlike regular boils – it was dry and burning on the center. And it only affected the Egyptians and their livestock. If a cow was owned jointly by and Egyptian and an Israelite, or if there was a question to whom the livestock belonged to, it was not struck by boils. In this way the Egyptians knew who the law favored.²²⁵
