**מכת בכורות** הא דאמר לשון מכת וגם לשון בכורות דמשמע רבות אעפ"י שהי' שקול נגד כל המכות י"ל עוד דאשמעינין נמי מלבד שיש בזה מכה ליו"ד מיני בכור כמ"ש וגם יותר הרגו הבכורים באבותיהם מה שנהרגו הבכורים לכך נקט לשון רבות בכורות. או די"ל דקאי על שר של מצרים דהי' ראש וראשון ובכור של שבעים שרי אומות של מעלה והורידו מגדולתו לכן אמר בכורות למעלה ולמטה:

***Makat Bekhorot*- The Plague of the Firstborn**: We have seen that the usage of both words *makat* and *bechorot* is significant here. Not only is this plague equal to all the others, but this plague struck ten types of people who had the status of first born. Not only that, it refers not only to the attack on the first born in Egypt, but the attack of the first born on the rest of Egypt. That is why we say *bechorot* – the firstborns (plural). Also the term refers to the angelic prince of Egypt who was considered to be the first born of all the angelic representatives of all the other nations. God struck the firstborn in the heavens above and here below on earth.
