**כי למה תשקלו כסף בלא להם ויגיעכם בלא לשבעה**כמו מי שעושה תחבולות ועבודות קשות עד שישתכר כסף וזהב וכן מי שיגע לו בשדה ובכרם וסוף שאין לו מה לאכול ולשבוע מחמת כמה מניעות ששולח הקב"ה וא"כ היה יגיעו ועמלו לריק וטרחו לשקר כן הדבר שעושה מעשיו שלא לש"ש יהיה יגיעו לריק ולהבל ואין מקבל עליהם שכר מאחר שכוונתו היה לדבר אחר וכן אמרו בגמ' שאמר רבא לתלמידיו במטותא מנייכו לא תירתו תרתי גיהנם ועיין בהקדמה:

**Duties of the Heart, trans. Rabbi Yosef Sebag:**
Like one who does many undertakings and difficult jobs until he profits some silver and gold. Likewise, one who works hard in the field or the vineyard, and in the end has nothing to eat and be satiated due to various mishaps that G-d sends. Then all of his exertion and toil was for nothing, and his efforts for falsehood. So too, for one who does his religious acts not lshem shamayim (for G-d). His exertion will be for nothing and naught, and he won't receive reward since his intent was for something else. Likewise, they said in the talmud (Yoma 72b): "Rava said to his disciples: 'I beseech you, do not inherit a double Gehinom'".) (i.e. work hard in this world and earn Gehinom in the next)

**כי אתה חושב**ומסתכל שיהיה הכל על נכון כדי ליהנות בעוה"ז כן תעשה עכ"פ בעניני העוה"ב:

**ואם ימעט**אע"פ שתעשה מעט ובלבד שיהיה זך כי טוב מעט בכוונה מהרבות שלא בכוונה:

**ותשבח כי רגל תזורה**וסוף הענין לריק יגיעה בלי פחד כי השה (דחה) אלוה חכמה (מלבה) ולא חלק לה בבינה:

**והנה זכרנו וכו' ואל תקוץ בו**ר"ל אל תקוץ בעבודת הש"י פן תאמר בנבבך איך אוכל לעמוד בכל אלה ולעמוד כנגד היצר ומכשוליו כמו שזכר ותשליך ח"ו הכל אתר גוך אל ירך לבבך לא תירא ולא תחת כי ה' אלהיך הוא הולך לפניך להושיע ולעזור אותך כמ"ש צופה רשע לצדיק וגו':

**כי כפי מעלות חשיבות המלאכות כו'**כי דבר הנראה לעינים הוא שכל דבר היקר יותר בעולם יש לו דברים רבים המניעים והמפסידים אותו כמו שנזכר לעיל ?גבי אין ענין כו' ע"ש וע"ז נאמר הזורעים בדמעה ברנה יקצורו ונאמר חזק ויאמן לבך וקוה אל ה' חזקו ויאמץ לבבכם כל המיחלים לה'. וה' יחזק לבבנו ולבב זרענו כדי שנעשה כל מעשינו לשמו הגדול ברחמיו אמן:
