**ותקנתו התמימה שנברא בעבורה**ר"ל להבין ולהשכיל הסוף וקץ של כל הנבראים למה נבראו כולם ומהו תקנתו התמימה וכאשר ישתכל המשכיל יראה ויבחין שהכל נברא בעבור האדם ובו תקנת כל העולם כמ"ש בשער היחוד פ"ז מ"ב וז"ל וצורך האדם על הכל ותקנת הכל באדם וכ"כ לקמן בשער זה והרמב"ם בהקדמת סדר זרעים האריך מאד בענין זה וכתב שם וכאשר חקרו הפילוסופים שהכל הוא בעבור האדם צריך לדעת מהו תכלית האדם בכל פעולותיו עם כל משמשיו ומצאו כי תכליתו הוא פועל אחד לבד והוא לצייר בנפשו המושכלות וחכמות האמתיות ולעבוד את ה' בכל פעולותיו כי הדעת נותן ששוא ושקר להיות תכלית האדם לאכילה ולשתיה או לבנות קיר או להיות עשיר גדול כי כל אלה הם מקריים מתחדשים עליו ועוד שהוא משתתף בזה עם רוב הברואים כו' וכל העולם עם כל העוזרים ובעלי מלאכות לא נבראו אלא בשביל זה או לצוות לזה כמו שאחז"ל כו' ע"ש באורך ומעתה נדע ונתבונן מהו תקנתו התמימה של כל העולם וכל אשר בו למה נברא: ובמ"ה פירש בענין אחר ולפי דבריו הענין כאן כפול ומכופל דו"ק:

G-d made the universe so that all who behold it will recognize and know that a wise, mighty, and capable One, of which there is none like Him, created it just like a building teaches on the wisdom and ability of the builder. **ובו תקנת העולם**ובאמת אם לא יהיה המיתה לא היה לעולם תקנה מכמה טעמים נגלים ונסתרים כי מה בצע שיעמול האדם תחת השמש לעולם ומתי יטול שכרו כי כל טובות העולם הזה אינם טובות בעצם מכל שכן הרעות. והרשע לא יפחד מהמות ויעמוד לעולם ברשעתו והצדיק יטול שכרו שם כפי פעולתו וכן הארץ הוא ככור שמתיך הזוהמא מהנחש שנדבק באדם מחטא אדם הראשון ובעת התחיה יעמוד בגוף נקי מוכן לקבל נפש הטהורה כמו שהיה באדה"ר קודם החטא כ"כ בר"מ אלשיך בפ' אמור וכן יש עוד כמה טובות בענין המות מה שלא נוכל להשיג ויהיה הגרסא והשני סימנים נעלמים כו' כי אם המשכיל המבין יושרם כמות הכולל כל בשר כו' ואין צורך לדחוקים של במ"ה ע"ש וכל המבינים הסכימו לגרסתי:

Without death, the human race could not endure for several reasons. Without death, why should a man work endlessly under the sun? When would he take his reward? Since in truth, the good of this world, is not really good and likewise for the bad. The wicked person would not fear death and would always remain in his wickedness. [With death,] the righteous man will receive his reward there according to his deeds... and there are other good reasons for death which we cannot comprehend.

**study its fine and spiritual elements...obtain proofs** -- i.e. he will not look solely at the physical side of things, so one should not think man was created for physical things such as eating and other needs. Because then it would not be necessary for each creature to have some fine and spiritual elements. Rather the spiritual in each thing is a clear proof on the blessed Creator, as is evident to one who reflects on this. When a person habituates himself in everything he looks at and in every creature he sees, he will be able to see the work of G-d for it is awesome, and through this he will be able to fulfill the verse: "I have set G-d before me always" (Tehilim 16:8). When he habituates in this, the awe and fear of G-d will enter his heart and "he will then cling to the service of G-d".

**ויחשוב העולם וקנינו צדה לעולם הבא**שעוה"ז וכל קנינו הוא נברא רק שיכין האדם בו צדתו לעולם הבא כי שם ביתו ודירתו האמתי ופה הוא כאורח נטה ללון והעולם הזה דומה לפרוזדור בפני העוה"ב כו' והיום לעשותם ומחר לקבל שכרם ולכך לא יקח מן העוה"ז רק מה שטוב לו בעולה הבא ולא יותר אבל הסכל שאין מבין מה ה' שואל מעמו ולמה בא אל העולם הזה ובגוף הזה וסובר שכאן הוא ביתו ודירתו ולעולם יחיה כאן ולכך משתדל בעניני העוה"ז לבד ושוכח קצו מכל וכל:

This world and all of its possessions was created only so that a human being will prepare in it his provisions for the Olam Haba (afterlife). Because there is his true home and residence. While here, he is like a visitor who stopped by temporarily. "This world is like a hallway to the Olam Haba..." (Avos 4:16), "today to do them and tomorrow to receive their reward" (Eruvin 22a). Therefore, one should take from this world only what will be good for him in the afterlife, and not more. But the fool, who does not understand what G-d asks of him, and why he came to this world and in this body, and thinks that here is his home and residence, and that he will be here forever. Therefore, he works only for worldly matters and completely forgets his final end.

**והמשכיל כאשר יעיין כו'**כי שם ביתו של אדם וכאן הוא כאורח נטה ללון רק הצורך למחיה ולפרנסה ומוכרח הוא להכין פרנסתו אך לא יעזוב אדמתו שיש לו בעולם הבא שלא ישגיח עליה לגמרי פן תהיה שממה ומאומה לא ימצא שם וגם פה לא עשה לנפשו מאומה רק לגופו ונמצא קרח מכאן ומכאן:
