**וכי הוא כו' ומשלו ואסרו בכל מה כו'**ר"ל וכי הוא מושל על הכל ויש במאסרו ובידו כל הדברים וכל הפעולות שנתן להם רשות להתעסק בו ולבחור אותם שהבחירה ביד האדם אבל הכל בידו וברשותו שיגמר או לא יגמר בין בעניני התורה ובין בעניני העוה'ז. וכל' הזה כתב בחתימת שער הבטחון ובחשבון השביעי ובכמה מקומות ולכך בטחו בה' בכל עניניהם שהכל בידי שמים:

**ולא יועילוך**חריצותך וטרדתך. כי המרבה לא העדיף והממעיט לא החסיר:

**ושים השכל לעמוד מבוע מנהגך בכחך**אפשר לפרש תשים שכלך כמו עמוד ברזל נגד מבוע ר"ל נגד ההרגל שהוא כמו מעין הנובע במנהג הרע וכל זה יהיה בכל כחך. ועיין במ"ה עוד ב' פירושים. וכתב שבס"א לא גרס לה ואפשר שיש בזה איזה טעות ור"נ גרס עמוד מרוע מנהגך והתנהל לאט ובמתון בקנות המדות הטובות. וז"ל מ"ה ר"ל אפילו במדות הטובות תעלה בהם ממדרגה למדרגה במתון כי אי אפשר לאדם לבא מיד למדה העליונה כגון בלמוד תורה לא ירבה שיעור רב בפעם אחת כי זה יגרום השכחה אך ילמדם מעט מעט וידקדק בהם. וההיקש הזה בכל המדות הטובות שא"א לקנותה אלא אחר הרגילו בהם לאט לאט כי צריך לדקדק בכל ענין וענין מהם עכ"ל. וכ"כ בסוף פ"ד משער ע"ה ע"ש ובר"ח האריך בזה מאד ע"ש:

**כי אתה צריך בעת בדידותך הגופניות כו'**ר"ל אע"פ שתתבודד בחדר מיוחד אינו מועיל כלום אם תקשור המחשבה בעסקי העולם כו' אלא צריך לך עם זה בדידות הרוחניות ר"ל שתחשוב בלבך עניני עולם הבא ותורת ה' וקרבת אלהים וכיוצא דברים רוחניים:

i.e. even if you are in solitude in a special chamber, it won't help in the least if your mind is tied to the affairs of this world, etc. Rather you need along with this also "spiritual solitude", i.e. that you reflect on matters of the next world, G-d's torah, closeness to G-d, or the like of spiritual things...

**שאם תהיה במעשה ממעשי העבודה כו'**כאן הזכירם שלא כסדר כי עשה החרוזים האלה לזכרון דברים למי שכבר למד ויגע את עצמו בספרו הקדוש רק שמא יכוון במעשיו לשום איזה פניה שהיא משגת לעובד ה' יותר מהכל כמו שזכר כמה פעמים ולכך מזהיר אותו תחלה שאם תהיה במעשה העבודה יזכירוך ליחד לבבך לה' ואח"כ אם תהיה במעשה העולם שאם אין קמח אין תורה יזכירוך לחשב עם נפשך שתעשה כל מעשיך לשם שמים וכן כולם עד גמירא שאם תתרחק עוד יותר מזה יזכירוך תיכף לבל תתעלם וחשוב לקדמותך ולכך לא זכר דבר מאהבת ה' כי מי שיש בו כל המדרגות בלי ספק שיש בו אהבת ה' ואם חסר אחת מהנה לא יתכן האהבה כמו שנתבאר בשער ע"ה פרק ג' כנ"ל:
