**Midrash BeChiddush, translated by Rabbi Mark B. Greenspan, Oceanside, N.Y. 2024:**
It would seem that the purpose of remembering the Passover offering in our time is so that we not forget the law of the Passover. For if we are meritorious and the Redeemer comes to redeem us we will know how to offer it as we were commanded. It is for this reason that, “Theodosius *[Todos*] of Rome instituted the custom for the Roman Jews to eat kids roasted [*mekulas*] whole with their entrails over their heads on the evenings of Passover…”²⁶⁹ 53a Rabbi Yossi said,.... However we also remember it because of the statement, “Instead of bulls we will pay, the offering of, our lips.” (Hos. 14:3) Or else (we may remember the Passover offering) in order to remember the Kindness which God performed for us on this night, for it was truly great.
**הלא הוא** Doesn’t the Passover offering symbolize that God passed through the houses of our ancestors in Egypt against the will of the celestial princes who tried to prevent God’s will to redeem Israel. God passed by the Egyptians who were the obstacles of holiness.

**Midrash BeChiddush, translated by Rabbi Mark B. Greenspan, Oceanside, N.Y. 2024:**
**ואת בתינו הציל** **“But our houses God saved הִצִּיל** (*hitzeel*).” *Peirush*: God took us for a portion, as was stated, “God has taken away **וַיַּצֵּ֧ל** (*vaytzeel*) your father’s livestock and given it to me.”²⁷⁰ (Gen. 31:9) So too here, God has lifted us on the wings of eagles and brought us to him. But it does not say God saved us since the Divine Presence (the *Shechinah*) entered the houses of the Israelites and enlightened it from its Glory within them, The word *hitzeel* is like the word **לְהַצְהִ֣יל** *Hitzheel*, as in the expression, “To make the face shine **לְהַצְהִ֣יל** from oil.” (Ps. 104:15) ….
