**מגיד**רחצה כוונת בע"א בתיבת מגיד שיגיד הגדה: ומה שמכנה אמירת הגדה בלשון מגיד כתבתי בטוב טעם בהגדה: ובתיבת רחצה כוונתו שירחוץ ידיו לסעודה: ויש להפליא למה שינה לשונו * כאן דבתחילת הסימן כתב קדש ורחץ וה"ה הכא הוי לי' למנקט ג"כ בזה"ל מגיד רחץ ומלת רחצה בהי"א בסופו נראה ללא צורך. ואמינא עד"ג דפסחים אר"ה אע"פי שנטל ידיו בטיבול ראשון צריך ליטול ידיו לטיבול שני. וכתבו התו' דר"ל שצריך ליטול ידיו שנית לצורך הסעודה דהנטילה לסעודה לצורך הטיבול הוא. ופריך שם ואמאי והא משא ידי' לטיבול ראשון ולמה יטול פעם שנית לסעודה ומשני כיון דבעי למימר הגדה והלילא הוי הסח הדעת ודילמא נגע במידי המטונף עכ"ל ואמינא אנא דה"יא מן מלת רחצה הוא רמז על זה ור"ל ה"לילא ה"גדה ה"וי ה"סח ה"דעת שאילו חמשה תיבות מתחילין הכל בה"יא וכוונתו בוה דלא תקשה ממ"ש מגיד ר"ל שיגיד הגדה וא"חכ רחצה ר"ל שירחוץ ידיו לסעודה ויפלא ממך הדבר הלא כבר משא ידיו לטיבול ראשון ולאיזה צורך יטול ידיו פעם שנית ע"כ נתן לסימן תיבת רחצה בה"יא נוספת משום דביני לביני אמירת הגדה והלילא הוי הסח הדעת:

**Maggid, Rachzah** The ‘order of the *Seder*’ begins *kadesh u’**rechaz**...maggid**rachzah**.* Why do we first say *rachaz*and then *rachzah* after*maggid?*What is the significance of the extra letter *hay*at the end of the word *rachaz*? This is a way of reminding us of the significance of second washing. In point of fact, one washing should have been enough before a meal. However, there can not be any type of interruption between the time we wash and the beginning of the meal. Since the meal is preceded by the *maggid*, the telling of the Exodus as well as passages of praise, there is an interruption here. It is necessary for us to wash again before we begin the meal. The letter hay is an allusion to ***h****aggadah **h**avay **h**esech **h**ada’at b’**h**ay:***** “the telling is an interruption with the letter *hay*.” Each of the words in this phrase begins with the letter *hay*.¹⁶
