And similarly with the subject of the arousal above via the quality of “speech”—the Prophet Amos (peace be upon him) said (4:13): “For lo, He that forms²⁴⁰ the mountains and creates²⁴¹ the wind[*], and tells²⁴² man what his words... .” For they stated in the *Zohar* (*Lekh L’kha*, 6:2; *Va-y’khi* 234:4 and 249:1; *Yitro* 80a; *Tazria* 50b; *Sh’lakh* 161:1; and in *Idra Zoota* 293; and in *Zohar Chaddash*, Shir Hashirim 55d) that the term “*ha-ga-da*” relates to the secret of language²⁴³.

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
Here it warns man, that because he is currently in this lowly world and doesn’t perceive the constructive effects or damage (heaven forefend) caused in the worlds above as an effect of each of his utterances, that it might occur to him (heaven forefend) to assert: “what possible importance could each utterance and simple conversation have, that it could cause any effect or situation in the world,” but it’s taken for granted that each of his utterances and light conversations, anything that he expresses with his lips, is not for naught and does not go to waste.

**Annotation:***And according to the ordering of the four worlds ABY”A*²⁴⁴, *B’reeya*, *Y’tzeera*, *Ahseeya**, it would have been correct to first state the phrase about Creation-*B’reeya *and afterwards Formation-*Y’tzeera²⁴⁵ first and Creation-*B’reeya* second..

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
*However, the context is that the phrase “Formation-*Y’tzeera”, *means the giving of form to something already existing*²⁴⁶*, and the expression “Creation-*B’reeya*” means a completely new thing that comes into existence from nothingness”*²⁴⁷*, as all the plain text commentators agreed (and as it is also stated in the* Zohar Chaddash*,* Bereshit *in the* Midrash Ha-neh-eh-lahm *17a, top). It’s written in this order because even though it appears to us that now, after the creation, that He only* forms *mountains, a thing that exists from another thing that already exists, (for the novel act of creating a thing from nothingness was completed during the six days of creation), rather the truth is that as it was then, so it is now, that at every instant and moment He creates them and recreates what is existent out of the nothingness, using the life force of the soul-*Ruakh *that impinges upon them anew via His will (blessed be He) each moment*²⁴⁸*. And so it was stated in* Ahvote *(4:29): “He is the Former, He is the Creator”, and this is as discussed above. From the source of these words, one who delves into it will understand plainly the matter of the four worlds being called Emanation*-Ah’tzeeloot, *Creation-*B’reeya*, Formation-*Y’tzeera*, Action-*Ahseeya*.*

כי מודעת שהעולמו' נשתלשלו בהדרג' ממדרגה למדרגה. וכל שנשתלשל וירד יותר למטה נתעבה יותר. וכללות העולמות הם נחלקים לד' חלוקות שונים בערך מעלתם. (לבד הצחצחות העליונים שאין לכנותם אפי' בשם אצילות)

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
*For it’s understood that the worlds unfolded in step-wise fashion, from level to level, and what unfolded and descended further down became more dense*²⁴⁹ (alt.: denser, thicker, more physical, more perceptible)*. And the totality of the worlds can be split into four divisions, differing according to their level (exclusive of the supernal “transparent crystals*²⁵⁰, entities that exist in the perhaps infinite number of worlds that are beyond our perception here in the lowest of the four perceivable worlds.*” that may not be named even with the name Emanation-*Ahtzeeloot)*.*

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
*And the first world of the four that He (blessed be His name) emanated, that we are able to name, is called Emanation-*Ahtzeeloot*. And “Ahtzeeloot” has two meanings: as an expression of connection*²⁵¹ *as in “with Him”*²⁵²*, and as an expression of spiritual extension*²⁵³*, as in (B’midbar 11:25): “and He extended some of the spirit-*Ruakh, *(and as in (Yechezkel 13:18): “his armpits”, that are connected to the body at all times and also the place where the emanation of his arms begin). For the world of Emanation-*Ahtzeeloot *is [masc.] completely absolute Godliness*²⁵⁴, where there is absolutely not even a hint of physicality, and perhaps not even one of time or space.*, and as is stated in the introduction to the* Tikkoonim*, in* Ahtzeeloot*: “He and what He causes are one…”, and in the* Etz Chayyim*,* Sha-ar Hishtal’sh’loot Ha-yood S’feerote *chapter 3, and in* Sha-ar Ha-tzellem *chapter 1, and in* Sha-ar Ha-shei-mote *chapter 1, and in* Sha-ar ABY”A *chapter 2 and the beginning of chapter 3, refer there. ועולם השני נשתלשל וירד מדרגה יותר מהראשון שמושג עכ"פ קצת מציאותו שיוכל להקרא יש. והוא היש מאין לכן נקרא בשם בריאה וכמש"ל.

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
*And the second world unfolded and descended a step lower than the first, and it can be perceived, from all perspectives, that a small part of its being can be called existent, and it [masc.] is the “existence from nothingness”, and therefore it is called Creation-*B’reeya*, as I wrote above.*

[Nefesh HaChayim, Gate I 13:8](https://torahapp.org/share/book/Nefesh%20HaChayim/s/Gate%20I/r/13:8)

ועולם הג' נשתלשל בסדר המדרגות מהעולם השני ונתעבה יותר שמציאותו מושג יותר והוא היש מיש. ולכן מתואר בשם יצירה. כמו יוצר חומר שהוא יש מיש.

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
*And the third world unfolded in the step-wise order from the second world, and became still denser, and its existence can be perceived still more, and it [masc.] is the forming using another thing that already exists, and therefore it is described with the name Formation-*Y’tzeera*, as one shapes clay [into an object], that is forming something from another thing that already exists.*

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**
*And the fourth world is the final stage of the construction of all the worlds that preceded it and their rectification for the good and truthful purpose that He (blessed be His name) intended in the matter of the general creation in toto. It is this the lowest world which is the residence of man who directs the worlds through the power of his actions. And as it is written in* Bereshit *(1:31): “And God-*Elohi”m *saw all that He made, and behold, it was very good”. And they stated in* Bereshit Rabba *(chapter 8): “‘And behold, it was very good’—‘And behold, it was good’ means man”. And similarly in chapter 9. And in chapter 3 there: “Rabbee Shmuel Bar Ami stated: ‘From the beginning of the creation of the world, the Holy One (blessed be He) desired to enact a partnership with the lower ones’.” And similarly in Tahn-khooma (parshat B’khoo-ko-tai and in parshat Nahso), refer there.*

לכן נקרא עשיה המורה על תיקון הדבר מלשון ויתן אל הנער וימהר לעשות אותו והרבה כיוצא וכן אמרו בז"ח שם עשי' הוא תיקון הדבר בגודל ומעלה מכמות שהיה כד"א ויעש דוד שם ע"כ:

**The Soul of Life, translated by Leonard Moskowitz, Teaneck, NJ 2012 [Rev. 1.5]:**

And so too they stated in the* Zohar Chaddash *there: “Action-*Ahseeya *is the rectification of the thing in size and degree relative to how it was beforehand, as it’s stated (Shmuel Bet 8:13): ‘and Dovid gained renown*²⁵⁷*’,” up to there.*
