And specifically when he stands before Him (blessed be He) to pray at the time designated for it [fem.], that [fem.] is the essence of nourishment for the worlds and the soul-*Neffesh* of the man himself [*]. And as is written in *Zohar Bereshit* (24a): “His nourishment [is] prayer which is considered as a sacrificial offering.

And in the *Raa-ya M’hemna* (*parshat Eh-more*, mentioned above, in chapter 7⁶¹⁸): “‘And Rivka said to Yaakov…’ (Bereshit 27:6)—to be aroused by these tasty foods of his. And Yaakov was aroused from below, dons prayers and supplications…, and says: ‘who—where—is the one who has hunted prey’ (ibid 27:33)—using a number of prayers and supplications—‘and I ate from all …’.” And in *parshat Pinkhas* 235a: “‘and eat from his son’s catch’—these are the prayers that leave and are expelled.”

ובזוהר שם רכ"ו א' וב' ביאר כל סדר הכתוב אכלתי יערי וגו' גם על סדר מטבע התפלה כולה מראשיתה עד סופה ע"ש וכן ברע"מ שם רמ"ד א' פירשו ג"כ על סדר התפלה באופן אחר קצת ע"ש.

And in the *Zohar* there (226a and b) it explained the entire arrangement [referred to] in the text: “I ate my honeycomb…” (Shir Hashirim 5:1), also the arrangement of the form of the prayer service in toto, from its beginning until its end, refer there. And too in the *Raa-ya M’hemna* (there 244a) they also explained a little about the arrangement of the prayer service in another way, refer there⁶¹⁹..

ושם רמ"א ב' אר"ש על רזא דא אסיר לב"נ לטעום כלום עד דייכול מלכא עלאה ומה איהו צלותא כו' עד דמלכא עלאה אכיל והיינו ג"ר וג' אחרונות. כיון דאיהו אכיל כו'. ע"ש באורך. והכל על הכוונה הנ"ל שהוא המשכת תוספת קדושה וברכה ונהירו לכל עלמין וכמפורש בזוהר ויחי הנ"ל ע"ש היטב. וצריך העובד האמיתי לכוין לזה:

And there (241b): “Rabbee Shim’on stated: ‘Based on this secret, a person is forbidden to taste anything until the supernal King eats. And what is it [fem.]? Prayer… . ‘Until the supernal King eats’ – that’s the first three [blessings⁶²⁰ prayer] and the last three. And once he’s eaten… .” Refer there at length [for more details]. And all is per the intention discussed above, that is the drawing forth of an increase in holiness and blessing that radiates to all the worlds, and as is explained in the *Zohar Va-y’khee* that was mentioned above, refer there carefully [for more details]. And the sincere worshipper should intend this⁶²¹ that explains why we don’t eat before we complete prayer, and directs that a person who is sincere about praying should intend in his prayers to draw forth an increase of holiness and blessing so as to nourish all of creation..

**Annotation:***And the prayer services were designed to correspond to the continual sacrificial offerings*⁶²² *that were also, [when offered] in their proper time, the essence of the nourishment mentioned above, as in the context of (*B’midbar *28:2): “My sacrificial offering, My nourishment” (“the one lamb shall you prepare and offer in the morning and the second lamb shall you prepare and offer in the afternoon”, as in the context of morning’s breakfast and evening’s dinner, that are the essence of nourishment). And it’s written (Vayikra 21:8): “for he offers the food of your God-*Elohi”m*”, and this what they (OBM) stated in* Chazeeta*: “‘My friend’— ‘Friend’ is none other than the one who maintains me, that they befriend me with the two continual sacrificial offerings… .” And refer to* Zohar Va-yei-tzei *164a: “began… ‘My sacrificial offering, My nourishment…’”, and in* parshat Va-y’khee *247b and 248a: “Binyamin is a predatory wolf…”, and in* parshat Bo *37b: “My beloved will come to His garden and dine…” (*Shir Ha-shirrim *5:1). Refer to all of these citations at length [for more details]. וכן פרט וביאר שם כל אברי כלי מבשלי ומעכלי האכילה שבאדם שהמה ג"כ בסדרי פרקי המרכבה עולמות וכחות עליונים מכונים בשמות אותן האברים ממש שהן כלי מבשלי ומבררי הקרבן ע"ש היטב בד' רכ"ד ע"א וד' רל"ד ורל"ה בזוהר וברע"מ שם. ובסוד ד' דרגין דקרבן אשה ריח ניחוח לה'. ג' דרגין אתה ריח ניחוח כסדרן בג' עקרי אברי האכילה כבד לב מוח. אשה בכבד. ריח בלב. ניחוח במוח. *And so in this way they broke down the details and explained all of the utensils used for cooking and digesting functions in the man, that they [emphatic] are identical in the order of the parts of the Vehicle*⁶²³*, supernal worlds and powers called by the names of those actual limbs/organs, that they are the utensils that cook and clarify the sacrificial offering, refer there carefully on page 224a, and page 234 and 235 in* Zohar *and in* Raa-ya M’hemna *there, and in the hidden meaning of the four levels of the sacrificial offering: “a fire offering, a satisfying aroma to God-*YHV”H*” (*Va-yikrah *1:9). “Three levels: fire offering, aroma, satisfying— according to the order in the three key limb/organs of assimilation: liver, heart/mind, brain. ‘Fire offering’—in the liver. “Aroma”—in the heart/mind. And “satisfying”—in the brain.” (This is not the place to address at length the explanation of their context.) They are responsible for settling the three aspects of* NR”N⁶²⁴.*, for the key places where they settle are in these three limbs/organs. And one other still higher level is hidden, the aspect of the soul*-Neshama-of-the-soul-Neshama *that is attached (so to speak) to Him (blessed be He), and this is “to God-*YHV”H*”.*

ולכן ארז"ל (ברכות נ"ה א') בזמן שבית המקדש היה קיים מזבח מכפר. עכשיו שלחנו של אדם מכפר עליו:

*And for that reason our sages (OBM) stated (Berakhot 55a): “During the period when the Holy Temple existed, the altar atoned; now a person’s dining table atones for him.”*
