ומאי חירות שנעשו בני חורין. במכילתא בשלח פרשה א' אין חרות אלא מקום חירותן של מצרים, ובילקוט רמז ר"ל אין חירות אלא מקום חירותן מקום אטלס מקום בית ע"ז שלהן, ובלק"ט לפני פי החירות שכן היה מנהג במצרים כל עבד שבורח מאדוניו כיון שהיה מגיע לחירות נעשה בן חורין, ורש"י הביא וז"ל החירות הוא פיתום ועכשיו נקרא פי החירות על שם שנעשו שם בני חורין:

ראשון וחומה שני כו' לפיכך כתיב חמה. המאמר משובש וכצ"ל חומה ראשון וחמה שני. ר"ל בפסוק כ"ב כתיב והמים להם חומה ובפסוק כ"ט כתיב והמים להם חמה חסר וי"ו, ועל זה כתב מלמד שרצה הים לנער את ישראל כמו שניער את המצריים ולפיכך כתיב חמה, והוא לקוח ממכילתא בשלח פ"ו בפסוק ובני ישראל הלכו ביבשה מנין שאף הים נתמלא עליהם חמה, שנאמר והמים להם חמה, אל תקרי חומה אלא חמה, ועיין לק"ט ובהערה קכ"ב:
