וישימו שם ע"ז כמו שנאמר. ב"ר פל"ח אות ח' אין שם אלא ע"ז שנאמר ושם אלהים אחרים. וכ"ה באדר"ע אות רי"ש. וכן מובא בלקח טוב ועיי' מכילתא משפטים פ"כ ובשם אלהים אחרים לא תזכירו, ר' נתן אומר הרי הוא אומר הבה נבנה לנו עיר ונעשה לנו שם, נאמר להלן שם ונאמר כאן שם, מה להלן ע"ז, אף כאן ע"ז, וכ"ה בסנהדרין ק"ט ע"א, וכן מפורש בתנחומא שלנו נח אות כ"ח ובהערה ש'.

פיהם הכשלים. עיי' ב"ר פל"ח אות ח' א"ר שמעון בר' חלפתא פי כסיל מחתה לו, פירש המ"כ שפיהם הכשלים שכן היה להם בסוף. שנאמר ויפץ ה' אותם, ועיי' תנחומא שלנו נח אות כ"ח ובהערה ש"א:

אמרו רבותינו. ב"ר פל"ח אות ח'. סנהדרין ק"ט ע"א, ותנחומא הנדפס מכבר נח אות י' ושם הגי' שלישו נשרף שלישו שקע [היינו נבלע] שלישו קיים, ופירש"י בסנהדר' שליש נבלע נבלעו יסודותיה משוקעת היא בקרקע עד שליש ושליש של מעלה נשרף ושלישי אמצעי קיים, ונראה כי גם לפני רש"י היתה הגירסא כמו שהביא המחבר שלישו נבלע בתחלה. וראיתי בתנחומא שלנו נח אות כ"ה שליש נבלע ושליש פל ושליש עומד עד עכשיו. וע"ש בהערה רפ"ו ושם הארכתי:
