והעמידה שלשה מלכים אלכסנדרוס מוקדון וגסקלגס ואנטונינוס. במדרש ב"ר לא הביא אצל יון שהעמידה שלשה מלכים, והמחבר חושב שלשה ולא אדע הטעם שחושב אלה השלשה. וגסלקגס, אין ספק שכוון לקיסר רומי צורר היהודים שצוה לעמוד צורתו בהיכל והוא Cajus Callinicus, ונזכר בתוספתא סוטה פי"ג ונהרג קסקלגוס ובטלו גזירותיו, ובירושלמי סוטה פ"ט הי"ג (דף כ"ד ע"ב) גייס גוליקס נהרג ובטלו גזירותיו, ובבבלי סוטה ל"ג ע"א ונהרג קסקלוקס ובטלו גזירותיו, ובמדרש חזית פ"ח פסוק אם חומה ונהרג גיוסלוקן ובטלו גזירותיו, בכלם המלה משובשת, ובסוף סדר עולם זוטא נחשבו שמונה מלכות יון והאחד גסקלוס ובנוסחא אחרת גסקלגס:
