שכן עולה חשבון האותיות ת"ר ועוד חשוב שמונה חוטין וחמשה קשים הרי שלש עשרה נמצא הכל תרי"ג כנגד תרי"ג מצות. במדרש במ"ר קרח פי"ח אות כ"א, וכן בתנחומ' הנדפס מכבר אות י"ב בהוספה, נמצא ציצית ת"ר וח' חוטין וה' קשרים הרי תרי"ג, וכן מובא ברש"י על התורה שלח ט"ו ל"ט, וברש"י מנחות מ"ג ע"ב ד"ה שקולה מצוה זו, ומובא גם בתוס' שם דף ל"ט ע"א ד"ה לא יפחות, וכן הוא בהלכות ציצית של רש"י הנדפס בשבלי הלקט השלם דף ק"ץ ע"ב, ועיין ברמב"ן בריש השגות שרש א' משרשי המצות כתב שאינו יודע אם היא אגדה:
