אַקְדֵשׁ **קֳדָמַי** כָּל בּוּכְרָא פָּתַח כָּל וַלְדָא בִּבְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל בֶּאֱנָשָׁא וּבִבְעִירָא דִילִי הוּא:

“Sanctify to [**before**] Me all the first-born, that [is the first to] open the womb among the B’nei Yisrael, both of man and beast, it is Mine.”

וַאֲמַר משֶׁה לְעַמָא הֲווֹ דְכִירִין יָת יוֹמָא הָדֵין דִי נְפַקְתּוּן מִמִצְרַיִם מִבֵּית עַבְדוּתָא אֲרֵי בִּתְקוֹף יְדָא אַפֵּיק יְיָ יָתְכוֹן מִכָּא וְלָא יִתְאֲכֵל חֲמִיעַ:

Moshe said to the people, “Remember this day [as the day] on which you came out of Egypt, from the house of slavery, for with a strong hand Adonoy brought you out from this. You must not eat chametz.

וִיהֵי אֲרֵי יָעֵלִנָךְ יְיָ לְאַרְעָא דִכְנַעֲנָאֵי וְחִתָּאֵי וֶאֱמוֹרָאֵי וְחִוָאֵי וִיבוּסָאֵי דִי קַיִים לַאֲבָהָתָךְ לְמִתַּן לָךְ אַרְעָא **עַבְדָא** חֲלָב וּדְבָשׁ וְתִפְלַח יָת פָּלְחָנָא הָדָא בְּיַרְחָא הָדֵין:

When Adonoy brings you to the land of the Canaanite, the Chittites, the Emorites, the Chivites and the Yevusites, which He swore to your fathers [that He would] give to you—a land flowing with [**producing**] milk and honey—you must conduct this service in this month.

שִׁבְעָה יוֹמִין תֵּיכוּל **פַּטִירָא** וּבְיוֹמָא שְׁבִיעָאָה חַגָא קֳדָם יְיָ:

For seven days you must eat matzos [**the matzoh**], and the seventh day is a festival to Adonoy.

Matzos [**Matzoh**] must be eaten these seven days. No chametz may be seen in your possession, and no leaven may be seen in all your boundaries.

You must tell your son [child] on that day saying, ‘Because of this, Adonoy did [this] for me when I came out of Egypt.’

וִיהֵי לָךְ לְאָת עַל יְדָךְ וּלְדָכְרָנָא בֵּין עֵינָיךְ בְּדִיל תְּהֵי אוֹרַיְתָא דַיְיָ בְּפוּמָךְ אֲרֵי בִּידָא תַקִיפָא אַפְּקָךְ יְיָ מִמִצְרָיִם:

It shall be to you as a sign on your hand, and for a reminder between your eyes, so that Adonoy’s teachings will be in your mouth, for with a strong hand Adonoy brought you out of Egypt.

וְתִטַר יָת קְיָמָא הָדָא לְזִמְנֵהּ מִזְמַן לִזְמָן:

You must preserve this statute in its appointed time, from year to year.

וְתַעְבַּר כָּל פָּתַח וַלְדָא **קֳדָם** יְיָ וְכָל פָּתַח וְלַד בְּעִירָא דִי יְהֵי לָךְ דִכְרִין **תַּקְדֵשׁ קֳדָם** יְיָ:

[At that time] you must pass on, [set aside] every one that [is first to] open the womb, to [**before**] Adonoy. Every firstling that is dropped [born] by animals that belong to you, the males shall belong to [**be consecrated before**] Adonoy.

וְכָל פָּתַח (בּוּכְרָא) דַחֲמָרָא תִּפְרוֹק בְּאִמְרָא וְאִם לָא תִפְרוֹק וְתִנְקְפֵהּ וְכָל בּוּכְרָא דַאֲנָשָׁא בִּבְנָיךְ תִּפְרוֹק:

Redeem each firstling donkey with a sheep. If it is not redeemed, you must break its neck. Redeem every first-born male among your sons.

When your son asks you at a later time saying ‘What is this?’ You should say to him, “With a strong hand Adonoy brought us out of Egypt from the house of slavery.

וַהֲוָה אֲרֵי אַקְשֵׁי פַרְעֹה לְשַׁלָחוּתָנָא וּקְטַל יְיָ כָּל בּוּכְרָא בְּאַרְעָא דְמִצְרַיִם מִבּוּכְרָא דַאֲנָשָׁא וְעַד בּוּכְרָא דִבְעִירָא עַל כֵּן אֲנָא דָבַח **קֳדָם** יְיָ כָּל פָּתַח וַלְדָא דִכְרִין וְכָל בּוּכְרָא דִבְנַי אֶפְרוֹק:

When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to send us out, Adonoy killed every first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of man to the first-born of beast. I am therefore sacrificing to [**before**] Adonoy all that [is first to] open the womb which are male, and the first-born of my sons I redeem.’

[These words] shall be a sign on your hand and for totafos [**phylacteries**] between your eyes, for with a strong hand Adonoy brought us out of Egypt.”

וַהֲוָה כַּד שַׁלַח פַּרְעֹה יָת עַמָא וְלָא דַבָּרִינוּן יְיָ אֹרַח אַרְעָא פְלִשְׁתָּאֵי אֲרֵי קָרִיבָא הוּא אֲרֵי אֲמַר יְיָ דִילְמָא **יְזוּעוּן** עַמָא בְּמֶחֱזֵיהוֹן קְרָבָא וִיתוּבוּן לְמִצְרָיִם:

When Pharaoh sent away the people Elohim did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines because it was the shortest route; for Elohim said, “The people might change their minds [**tremble**] should they encounter war, and return to Egypt.

And so Elohim led the people round-about by way of the Reed Sea Desert, and the B’nei Yisrael went up armed from the land of Egypt.

Moshe took [**carried up**] the bones of Yoseif with him, for [Yoseif] had bound the B’nei Yisrael by oath saying, “Elohim will surely remember you, and [then] you must carry up my bones out of here with you.

They journeyed from Sukkos and camped at Eisom at the edge of the desert.

Adonoy went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them on the way, and at night in a pillar of fire to provide them with light, so that they could travel by day and by night.

He did not remove the pillar of cloud by day, or [**even**] the pillar of fire at night, from before the people.
