מַלֵּיל עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לְמֵימַר אִתְּתָא אֲרֵי תְעַדִּי וּתְלִיד דְּכָר וּתְהֵי מְסָאָבָא שִׁבְעַת יוֹמִין כְּיוֹמֵי **רִחוּק סוֹבְתַהּ** תְּהֵי מְסָאָבָא:

Speak to Bnei Yisroel, saying, when a woman conceives and gives birth to a male child she will be ritually unclean for seven days; as the days of her menstrual flow [**the state of her impure ‘separation’**], she will be unclean.

On the eighth day, the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

וּתְלָתִין וּתְלָתָא יוֹמִין תֵּיתֵב בְּדַם דְּכוּ בְּכָל קוּדְשָׁא לָא תִקְרַב וּלְמִקְדְּשָׁא לָא תֵעוֹל עַד מִשְׁלַם יוֹמֵי דָכוּתַהּ:

For thirty-three days she will remain [in the status] that the blood [she sees] is ritually pure. She shall not touch anything holy and she shall not come into the Sanctuary, until the days of her purity are completed.

וְאִם נְקוּבְתָא תְלִיד וּתְהֵי מְסָאָבָא **אַרְבְּעָה עֲסַר כְּרִחוּקַהּ** וְשִׁתִּין וְשִׁתָּא יוֹמִין תֵּיתֵב עַל דַּם דְּכוּ:

If she gives birth to a female she will be unclean for two weeks [**fourteen days**] as during her menstruation [**‘separation’**]. For sixty-six days she will remain [in the status] that the blood [she sees] is ritually pure.

וּבְמִשְׁלַם יוֹמֵי דָכוּתַהּ לִבְרָא אוֹ לִבְרַתָּא תַּיְתִי אִמָּר בַּר שַׁתֵּיהּ לַעֲלָתָא וּבַר יוֹנָה אוֹ שַׁפְנִינָא לְחַטָּאתָא לִתְרַע מַשְׁכַּן זִמְנָא לְוָת כַּהֲנָא:

When the days of her purification are completed, be it for a son or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb, in its first year, as a burnt-offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove as a sin-offering, to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, to the *kohein.*

וִיקָרְבִנֵּיהּ קֳדָם יְיָ וִיכַפֵּר עֲלַהּ וְתִדְכֵּי **מִסּוֹאֲבַת** דְּמָהָא דָּא אוֹרַיְתָא דְיַלֶּדְתָּא לְדוּכְרָא אוֹ לִנְקֻבְתָא:

He will bring it before Adonoy and atone for her and she will be cleansed from the source [**impurity**] of her blood; this is the law regarding the woman who gives birth to a male or to a female.

וְאִם לָא תַשְׁכַּח יְדַהּ כְּמִסַּת אִמְּרָא וְתִסַּב תַּרְתֵּין שַׁפְנִינִין אוֹ תְרֵין בְּנֵי יוֹנָה חַד לַעֲלָתָא וְחַד לְחַטָּאתָא וִיכַפֵּר עֲלַהּ כַּהֲנָא וְתִדְכֵּי:

If she cannot afford [to acquire] a lamb she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons; one as a burnt-offering and one as a sin-offering. The *kohein* will atone for her and she will be cleansed.
