**יאמצהו הבורא ויעזרהו על האהבה כו'**לפי שהוא קשה על טבע האדם להשיגו אם לא באומץ אלהי וע"י שבא לטהר מעצמו בהשיגו המדרגה הראשונה יסייע אותו ית' למדרגה השניה הזאת ואמר יאמצהו כלומר יאמץ כח לבו לזה ועל מציאות הדעות הנצרכות לזה אמר ויעזרהו ואפשר להמליץ ע"ז מאמר התנא באמרו עשה רצונו כרצונך כדי שיעשה כו' כאשר כתבתי למעלה שהדבר הנדמה לדבר איננו בדמיון שוה ממש רק קרוב ממנו וא"כ באמרו עשה רצונו כרצונך שנמצא שיהיה רצונו ית' אצל האדם נדמה לרצון האדם עצמו וקרוב ממנו והיא המדרגה הראשונה מן האהבה ואמר שבהשתדלו בהשגת מדרגה זו יכוון שלא לעמוד ולהסתפק בה רק יכוון שע"י יסייעהו הוא ית' באמצו ועזרתו למדרגה שניה דהיינו שתהפך השעה אצלך ויהיה רצונו יתברך יותר עיקרי אצלך ושמח יותר בהשגתו ממה שאתה שמח בהשגת רצון עצמך וז"א כדי שיעשה כו' שכוונתך במדרגה הראשונה תהיה כדי שיעשה לך המדרגה שרצונך יהיה נדמה לרצונו ורצונו יהיה עיקר ודוק כי הוא נכון וצח בעזה"י:

since it is difficult on the nature of a man to reach this level without divine help, and through coming to purify oneself on his own by reaching the first level, G-d will help him to reach this second level...and when exerting to reach the first level, one should have intent to not remain there and be satisfied with it, but rather he should have intent that through it, G-d will help him to reach the second level, which is that G-d's will is more primary to you [than your own will], and that you are more joyful in fulfilling it, than you are joyful in fulfilling your own will.
