**הגבהות והגאוה**הרי שאם היה מתגאה בודאי היה מפסיד העבודה שבודאי הגאוה הוא המפסיד הגדול שבכל המפסידים ובאמת לא היה יודע מאין בא לו ההפסד שהרי אין האדם מתגאה אלא אם כן נדמה לו שהוא ראוי להתגאות ושכל גאותו וגאונו לא ימצאו לו עון אשר חטא:

**מה שסמוכה לה**איזה תכונה פירוש מעלה סמוכה לה ולפי שצריך לעלות עד התכונה העליונה אמר שידע כמה מדרגות יש בין התכונה שהוא אוחז בה ובין התכונה העליונה וישתדל לעלות קו לקו עד שישיג העליונה:
