## Psalms Chapter 111

###### Psalms 111:1

הַ֥לְלוּ־יָ֨הּ**׀** אוֹדֶ֣ה יְ֭הֹוָה בְּכׇל־לֵבָ֑ב בְּס֖וֹד יְשָׁרִ֣ים וְעֵדָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Haleluya! I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.

[(In praise of the L rd)] Praise the L rd! I shall thank the L rd with all my heart, in the counsel of the just and the [whole] congregation.

גְּ֭דֹלִים מַעֲשֵׂ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה דְּ֝רוּשִׁ֗ים לְכׇל־חֶפְצֵיהֶֽם׃

The works of the Lord are great, sought out by all who love them.

The acts of the L rd are great, [yet] they may be inquired after by all who desire [to know] them.


###### Psalms 111:3

הוֹד־וְהָדָ֥ר פׇּעֳל֑וֹ וְ֝צִדְקָת֗וֹ עֹמֶ֥דֶת לָעַֽד׃

His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endures for ever.

Glory and beauty are His work, and His righteousness stands eternally.


###### Psalms 111:4

זֵ֣כֶר עָ֭שָׂה לְנִפְלְאוֹתָ֑יו חַנּ֖וּן וְרַח֣וּם יְהֹוָֽה׃

He has made his wonderful works to be remembered: the Lord is gracious and full of compassion.

He has made a remembrance for His wonders, [for] gracious and merciful is the L rd. [i.e., He fixed for Israel Sabbaths, festivals, and mitzvoth, qualified by "And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt," for He is gracious and merciful (and desires to vindicate them by stressing their lowly beginnings)].

טֶ֭רֶף נָתַ֣ן לִירֵאָ֑יו יִזְכֹּ֖ר לְעוֹלָ֣ם בְּרִיתֽוֹ׃

He has given food to those who fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

Sustenance did He provide for those who feared Him [for] He remembers His covenant [with Abraham] forever.


###### Psalms 111:6

כֹּ֣חַ מַ֭עֲשָׂיו הִגִּ֣יד לְעַמּ֑וֹ לָתֵ֥ת לָ֝הֶ֗ם נַחֲלַ֥ת גּוֹיִֽם׃

He has declared to his people the power of his works, that he may give them the heritage of the nations.

He apprised His people of the strength of His deeds in giving to them the inheritance of the nations.

מַעֲשֵׂ֣י יָ֭דָיו אֱמֶ֣ת וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט נֶ֝אֱמָנִ֗ים כׇּל־פִּקּוּדָֽיו׃

The works of his hands are truth and justice; all his commandments are sure.

The work of His hands is truth and justice, [for] all of His commands are steadfast.


###### Psalms 111:8

סְמוּכִ֣ים לָעַ֣ד לְעוֹלָ֑ם עֲ֝שׂוּיִ֗ם בֶּאֱמֶ֥ת וְיָשָֽׁר׃

They stand fast for ever and ever, done in truth and uprightness.

They are founded [in strength (i.e., they are strengthened by punishments, exhortations, etc.)] to endure forever. They are made in truth and justness.


###### Psalms 111:9

פְּד֤וּת**׀** שָׁ֘לַ֤ח לְעַמּ֗וֹ צִוָּֽה־לְעוֹלָ֥ם בְּרִית֑וֹ קָד֖וֹשׁ וְנוֹרָ֣א שְׁמֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
He sent redemption to his people: he has commanded his covenant forever: holy and reverend is his name.

Redemption has He sent for His people, [for] He has commanded His covenant forever. Holy and awesome is His name.


###### Psalms 111:10

רֵ֘אשִׁ֤ית חׇכְמָ֨ה**׀** יִרְאַ֬ת יְהֹוָ֗ה שֵׂ֣כֶל ט֭וֹב לְכׇל־עֹֽשֵׂיהֶ֑ם תְּ֝הִלָּת֗וֹ עֹמֶ֥דֶת לָעַֽד׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they who do his commandments: his praise endures forever.

The beginning of wisdom is fear of the L rd. [It shall be accounted] goodly wisdom to all who do so [i.e., who imbue themselves with such fear; for then] His praise will endure forever.
