###### Psalms 12:1

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ עַֽל־הַשְּׁמִינִ֗ית מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃

###### Psalms 12:2

הוֹשִׁ֣יעָה יְ֭הֹוָה כִּֽי־גָמַ֣ר חָסִ֑יד כִּי־פַ֥סּוּ אֱ֝מוּנִ֗ים מִבְּנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Help, Lord; for the godly man ceases; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.

Help me, O L rd, for the saintly one has ceased [from the world], for the faithful have ended from the sons of men [(All of them spy upon me and reveal my hiding places to Saul)].

שָׁ֤וְא**׀** יְֽדַבְּרוּ֮ אִ֤ישׁ אֶת־רֵ֫עֵ֥הוּ שְׂפַ֥ת חֲלָק֑וֹת בְּלֵ֖ב וָלֵ֣ב יְדַבֵּֽרוּ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
They speak vanity every one with his fellow: with flattering lips and with a double heart they speak.

Falsely does one man speak with another, with smoothed-over lips. With [one] heart [do they think] and [with another] heart speak.


###### Psalms 12:4

יַכְרֵ֣ת יְ֭הֹוָה כׇּל־שִׂפְתֵ֣י חֲלָק֑וֹת לָ֝שׁ֗וֹן מְדַבֶּ֥רֶת גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃

May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, the tongue that speaks proud things:

Let the L rd cut off all smoothed-over lips; the tongue that speaks great things [in order to deceive].

אֲשֶׁ֤ר אָמְר֨וּ**׀** לִלְשֹׁנֵ֣נוּ נַ֭גְבִּיר שְׂפָתֵ֣ינוּ אִתָּ֑נוּ מִ֖י אָד֣וֹן לָֽנוּ׃

who have said, With our tongue we will prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?

["Let the L rd cut off"] those who say: With our tongues will we prevail; our lips are with us; Who can overmaster us?


###### Psalms 12:6

מִשֹּׁ֥ד עֲנִיִּים֮ מֵאֶנְקַ֢ת אֶבְי֫וֹנִ֥ים עַתָּ֣ה אָ֭קוּם יֹאמַ֣ר יְהֹוָ֑ה אָשִׁ֥ית בְּ֝יֵ֗שַׁע יָפִ֥יחַֽ־לֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
For the violence done to the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, says the Lord; I will set him in safety at whom they hiss.

Because of the spoil of the poor [(at their hands)], because of the groans of the impoverished, shall I now arise, says the L rd. "I will come to [your] aid," shall He say to him [(the afflicted one)].


###### Psalms 12:7

אִ֥מְר֣וֹת יְהֹוָה֮ אֲמָר֢וֹת טְהֹ֫ר֥וֹת כֶּ֣סֶף צָ֭רוּף בַּעֲלִ֣יל לָאָ֑רֶץ מְ֝זֻקָּ֗ק שִׁבְעָתָֽיִם׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The words of the Lord are pure words: silver refined in a furnace upon the ground, purified seven times.

The words of the L rd [(unlike those of men)] are pure words [(clear and enduring)], silver refined in [a crucible made of] the upper crust [(i.e., the finest)] of the earth, seven times purified.


###### Psalms 12:8

אַתָּֽה־יְהֹוָ֥ה תִּשְׁמְרֵ֑ם תִּצְּרֶ֓נּוּ**׀** מִן־הַדּ֖וֹר ז֣וּ לְעוֹלָֽם׃

Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, Thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.

You, O L rd, shall keep them [the poor]; You shall guard them from [the pursuit of the slanderers of] this generation forever.


###### Psalms 12:9

סָבִ֗יב רְשָׁעִ֥ים יִתְהַלָּכ֑וּן כְּרֻ֥ם זֻ֝לּ֗וּת לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃{פ}

The wicked walk on every side, when vileness is exalted among the children of men.

The wicked walk roundabout [me to plant snares to entrap me] in [envy of] the exaltation [to kingship] of the basest of men [viz. 118:22].
