###### Psalms 129:1

שִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּ֫עֲל֥וֹת רַ֭בַּת צְרָר֣וּנִי מִנְּעוּרַ֑י יֹאמַר־נָ֝֗א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
A Ma῾alot Poem. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Yisra᾽el now say:

A song of ascents. "Many [peoples] have afflicted me from my youth," Israel will say [in the future].

רַ֭בַּת צְרָר֣וּנִי מִנְּעוּרָ֑י גַּ֝֗ם לֹא־יָ֥כְלוּ לִֽי׃

many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me.

Many have afflicted me from my youth, but none have prevailed against me.

עַל־גַּ֭בִּי חָרְשׁ֣וּ חֹרְשִׁ֑ים הֶ֝אֱרִ֗יכוּ (למענותם) [לְמַעֲנִיתָֽם]׃

The ploughers ploughed upon my back: they made long their furrows.

Upon my back the plowers have plowed; they have lengthened their furrow.

יְהֹוָ֥ה צַדִּ֑יק קִ֝צֵּ֗ץ עֲב֣וֹת רְשָׁעִֽים׃

The Lord is righteous: he has cut asunder the cord of the wicked.

[But] the L rd is righteous; He has cut the bonds of the wicked ones.

יֵ֭בֹשׁוּ וְיִסֹּ֣גוּ אָח֑וֹר כֹּ֝֗ל שֹׂנְאֵ֥י צִיּֽוֹן׃

Let them be confounded and turned back, all who hate Żiyyon.

They will be ashamed, and they will recoil, all the foes of Zion.

יִ֭הְיוּ כַּחֲצִ֣יר גַּגּ֑וֹת שֶׁקַּדְמַ֖ת שָׁלַ֣ף יָבֵֽשׁ׃

Let them be like the grass upon the housetops, which withers before it is plucked:

שֶׁלֹּ֤א מִלֵּ֖א כַפּ֥וֹ קוֹצֵ֗ר וְחִצְנ֥וֹ מְעַמֵּֽר׃

wherewith the mower fills not his hand; nor he who binds sheaves his bosom.

Which does not fill the hand of the reaper, nor the arm of the gatherer.

וְלֹ֤א אָמְר֨וּ**׀** הָעֹבְרִ֗ים בִּרְכַּֽת־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם בֵּרַ֥כְנוּ אֶ֝תְכֶ֗ם בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָֽה׃{פ}

Nor do they who go by say, The blessing of the Lord be upon you: we bless you in the name of the Lord.

Whereof the passersby will not say [the customary]: "The blessing of the L rd upon you; we have blessed you in the name of the L rd."
