## Psalms Chapter 23

###### Psalms 23:1

מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִ֑ד יְהֹוָ֥ה רֹ֝עִ֗י לֹ֣א אֶחְסָֽר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

**The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
A psalm of David [i.e., a psalm for reposing the Shechinah upon David (He would play and the Shechinah would come to rest upon him)]. The L rd is my shepherd [(in this desert in which I walk; therefore,)] I shall not want.

בִּנְא֣וֹת דֶּ֭שֶׁא יַרְבִּיצֵ֑נִי עַל־מֵ֖י מְנֻח֣וֹת יְנַהֲלֵֽנִי׃

He makes me to lie down in green pastures: he leads me beside the still waters.

In green pastures He couches me; He leads me beside the still waters.


###### Psalms 23:3

נַפְשִׁ֥י יְשׁוֹבֵ֑ב יַֽנְחֵ֥נִי בְמַעְגְּלֵי־צֶ֝֗דֶק לְמַ֣עַן שְׁמֽוֹ׃

He restores my soul: he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

**The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
He restores my [beleaguered] soul. He leads me in straight paths [(protecting me from my foes)], for His name's sake.


###### Psalms 23:4

גַּ֤ם כִּֽי־אֵלֵ֨ךְ בְּגֵ֪יא צַלְמָ֡וֶת לֹא־אִ֘ירָ֤א רָ֗ע כִּי־אַתָּ֥ה עִמָּדִ֑י שִׁבְטְךָ֥ וּ֝מִשְׁעַנְתֶּ֗ךָ הֵ֣מָּה יְנַֽחֲמֻֽנִי׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

Though I walk in the vale of darkness [(the desert of Ziph [viz. I Samuel 23:15])], I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod [of afflictions] and your staff [of succor] — they comfort me [(both tending to forgiveness of sin)].

תַּעֲרֹ֬ךְ לְפָנַ֨י**׀** שֻׁלְחָ֗ן נֶ֥גֶד צֹרְרָ֑י דִּשַּׁ֥נְתָּ בַשֶּׁ֥מֶן רֹ֝אשִׁ֗י כּוֹסִ֥י רְוָיָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runs over.

[Thus, I trust that] You shall set before me a table [(of kingdom)] in the face of my enemies. You have [already] anointed my head with the oil [of kingship]; my cup runs over [with good].


###### Psalms 23:6

אַ֤ךְ**׀** ט֤וֹב וָחֶ֣סֶד יִ֭רְדְּפוּנִי כׇּל־יְמֵ֣י חַיָּ֑י וְשַׁבְתִּ֥י בְּבֵית־יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה לְאֹ֣רֶךְ יָמִֽים׃{פ}

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Only good and lovingkindness shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the L rd forever.
