###### Psalms 41:1

לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃

###### Psalms 41:2

אַ֭שְׁרֵי מַשְׂכִּ֣יל אֶל־דָּ֑ל בְּי֥וֹם רָ֝עָ֗ה יְֽמַלְּטֵ֥הוּ יְהֹוָֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
Blessed is he who considers the poor: the Lord will deliver him in the day of evil.

**The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
Fortunate is he who attends upon the poor one [i.e., who visits the sick, viz. II Samuel 13:4]. The L rd will rescue him on a day of evil [i.e., He will rescue him from Gehinnom; and, in this life,]


###### Psalms 41:3

יְהֹוָ֤ה**׀** יִשְׁמְרֵ֣הוּ וִ֭יחַיֵּהוּ (יאשר) [וְאֻשַּׁ֣ר] בָּאָ֑רֶץ וְאַֽל־תִּ֝תְּנֵ֗הוּ בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ אֹיְבָֽיו׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord preserves him, and keeps him alive; he is called happy upon the earth: and Thou wilt not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

The L rd will guard him and keep him in life. He will be praised throughout the land, and You will not surrender him to the will of his foes.


###### Psalms 41:4

יְֽהֹוָ֗ה יִ֭סְעָדֶנּוּ עַל־עֶ֣רֶשׂ דְּוָ֑י כׇּל־מִ֝שְׁכָּב֗וֹ הָפַ֥כְתָּ בְחׇלְיֽוֹ׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
The Lord strengthens him upon the bed of sickness: whenever he is prostrate Thou recoverest him in his illness.

The L rd will sustain him on the couch of affliction, [even when] You have turned all of his ease [(into torture)] in his sickness.

אֲֽנִי־אָ֭מַרְתִּי יְהֹוָ֣ה חׇנֵּ֑נִי רְפָאָ֥ה נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י כִּי־חָטָ֥אתִי לָֽךְ׃

I said, Lord, be gracious to me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against Thee.

אוֹיְבַ֗י יֹאמְר֣וּ רַ֣ע לִ֑י מָתַ֥י יָ֝מ֗וּת וְאָבַ֥ד שְׁמֽוֹ׃

My enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

My foes speak evil for me: "When will he die and his name go lost!"


###### Psalms 41:7

וְאִם־בָּ֤א לִרְא֨וֹת**׀** שָׁ֤וְא יְדַבֵּ֗ר לִבּ֗וֹ יִקְבׇּץ־אָ֥וֶן ל֑וֹ יֵצֵ֖א לַח֣וּץ יְדַבֵּֽר׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
And if one comes to see me, he speaks vanity: his heart gathers iniquity to itself; when he goes abroad, he tells it.

And if [one] comes to see [me], he speaks falsely [(feigning sorrow)], his heart [all the while] gathering [thoughts of] iniquity for himself, and, when he goes out, speaking [them].

יַ֗חַד עָלַ֣י יִ֭תְלַחֲשׁוּ כׇּל־שֹׂנְאָ֑י עָלַ֓י**׀** יַחְשְׁב֖וּ רָעָ֣ה לִֽי׃

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me they devise my hurt.

דְּֽבַר־בְּ֭לִיַּעַל יָצ֣וּק בּ֑וֹ וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׁ֝כַ֗ב לֹא־יוֹסִ֥יף לָקֽוּם׃

An evil disease, say they, cleaves fast to him: and from where he lies he shall rise up no more.

גַּם־אִ֤ישׁ שְׁלוֹמִ֨י**׀** אֲשֶׁר־בָּטַ֣חְתִּי ב֭וֹ אוֹכֵ֣ל לַחְמִ֑י הִגְדִּ֖יל עָלַ֣י עָקֵֽב׃

Even my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

וְאַתָּ֤ה יְהֹוָ֗ה חׇנֵּ֥נִי וַהֲקִימֵ֑נִי וַאֲשַׁלְּמָ֥ה לָהֶֽם׃

But Thou, O Lord, be gracious to me, and raise me up, that I may pay them back.

בְּזֹ֣את יָ֭דַעְתִּי כִּֽי־חָפַ֣צְתָּ בִּ֑י כִּ֤י לֹֽא־יָרִ֖יעַ אֹיְבִ֣י עָלָֽי׃

By this I know that Thou favourest me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

וַאֲנִ֗י בְּ֭תֻמִּי תָּמַ֣כְתָּ בִּ֑י וַתַּצִּיבֵ֖נִי לְפָנֶ֣יךָ לְעוֹלָֽם׃

And as for me, Thou upholdest me in my integrity, and settest me before Thy face for ever.

And [then I will see] that You sustained me in my innocence and set me before You forever.


###### Psalms 41:14

בָּ֘ר֤וּךְ יְהֹוָ֨ה**׀** אֱלֹ֘הֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מֵֽ֭הָעוֹלָם וְעַ֥ד הָעוֹלָ֗ם אָ֘מֵ֥ן׀וְאָמֵֽן׃

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Yisra᾽el from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
