###### Psalms 6:1

לַמְנַצֵּ֣חַ בִּ֭נְגִינוֹת עַֽל־הַשְּׁמִינִ֗ית מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃

To the chief Musician on strings upon the Sheminit, A Psalm of David.

**The Rashi Ketuvim by Rabbi Shraga Silverstein:**
For the conductor of the singing, on the sheminith [an eight-stringed lyre], a psalm of David.

יְֽהֹוָ֗ה אַל־בְּאַפְּךָ֥ תוֹכִיחֵ֑נִי וְֽאַל־בַּחֲמָתְךָ֥ תְיַסְּרֵֽנִי׃

O Lord, rebuke me not in Thy anger, nor chasten me in Thy hot displeasure.

O L rd, do not rebuke me in Your anger, and do not afflict me in Your wrath.

חׇנֵּ֥נִי יְהֹוָה֮ כִּ֤י אֻמְלַ֫ל־אָ֥נִי רְפָאֵ֥נִי יְהֹוָ֑ה כִּ֖י נִבְהֲל֣וּ עֲצָמָֽי׃

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones shudder;

and my soul is much affrighted. And Thou, O Lord, how long?

שׁוּבָ֣ה יְ֭הֹוָה חַלְּצָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֑י ה֝וֹשִׁיעֵ֗נִי לְמַ֣עַן חַסְדֶּֽךָ׃

Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me on account of Thy steadfast love.

Turn, O L rd, from Your wrath; rescue my soul [from my sickness]. Save me, for the sake of Your lovingkindness.

כִּ֤י אֵ֣ין בַּמָּ֣וֶת זִכְרֶ֑ךָ בִּ֝שְׁא֗וֹל מִ֣י יֽוֹדֶה־לָּֽךְ׃

For in death there is no remembrance of Thee: in She᾽ol who shall give Thee thanks?

For in death there is no remembering You. Who will praise You in the pit?

יָגַ֤עְתִּי**׀** בְּֽאַנְחָתִ֗י אַשְׂחֶ֣ה בְכׇל־לַ֭יְלָה מִטָּתִ֑י בְּ֝דִמְעָתִ֗י עַרְשִׂ֥י אַמְסֶֽה׃

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
I am weary with my groaning: all the night I make my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

I have grown weary with my sighs. [With my tears] I sully my bed each night. With my tears I wet my couch.


###### Psalms 6:8

עָשְׁשָׁ֣ה מִכַּ֣עַס עֵינִ֑י עָ֝תְקָ֗ה בְּכׇל־צוֹרְרָֽי׃

My eye is wasted because of grief; it grows weak because of all my enemies.

My eye is dimmed with anger; it is aged by [the "darts" of] all my tormentors.

ס֣וּרוּ מִ֭מֶּנִּי כׇּל־פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָ֑וֶן כִּֽי־שָׁמַ֥ע יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה ק֣וֹל בִּכְיִֽי׃

Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.

שָׁמַ֣ע יְ֭הֹוָה תְּחִנָּתִ֑י יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה תְּֽפִלָּתִ֥י יִקָּֽח׃

The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord receives my prayer.

The L rd has heard my plaint; the L rd shall accept my prayer.


###### Psalms 6:11

יֵבֹ֤שׁוּ**׀** וְיִבָּהֲל֣וּ מְ֭אֹד כׇּל־אֹיְבָ֑י יָ֝שֻׁ֗בוּ יֵבֹ֥שׁוּ רָֽגַע׃{פ}

**The Koren Jerusalem Bible:**
All my enemies will be ashamed and much affrighted: they will turn back and be confounded in a moment.

All of my foes [will call to their gods and] they will be shamed and sorely confounded. [Then] they will turn [and call to the L rd] — and they will be shamed in an instant! [(for having called upon Him only as an “afterthought” [viz. 18:42])]
